For some reason, I don't think he's back next season. A victim of the numbers game.
Another question is, if they don't intend to bring him back, what was the reason to bring him over in the first place, unless I've missed something...again...
The only thing Bouma can do at an NHL level is block shots.
Every other part of his game is below NHL calibre by a fair margin.
I think he has the skill to be better than what he is, and he's proven it in the past. His defensive IQ is good, and he's a hard-nosed player that should be picking up those garbage goals like he did 2 years ago. He's an average skater with limited offensive upside.
He just doesn't seem willing to play the game that got him here. Give the chance to the guy who is - Hathaway.

And some other comments about how Calgary believes in him... Damn this kid had a chip on his shoulder! LOL!
Hope things work out for him on Calgary! He certainly sounds motivated.
I bet he read a few things on his old team's forum. One reason why I dislike over-the-top comments about individual players. You never know who's reading - them, their family, their kids?
His pass got deflected, but the rest of that play wasn't him.
Wideman had no right coming over to Andersson's side of the ice. Andersson had the puck carrier. Wideman should have stayed out front. It was a lousy - and typical - sequence from Wideman.
Andersson making far fewer errors that Wideman or Bartkowski there.

No. I don't think that's the case. He needs to be playing with Backlund & Frolik (or guys of that skill level) to usually look like a passable NHL player. Those 2 guys were predominantly the reason why he had that career year of his. Otherwise he looks quite not so good.
Bouma is not what he was in his 2014-15 season and it's not even close. He's pretty terrible aside from shot blocking. It's just the way he is.
