The Score's fantasy impact report. Lol:

"With nine goals, 60 assists and 69 points in 274 career games, Larsson is only a fantasy option in the deepest of leagues. He's a career plus-13, but his best year was 2015-16 with a rating of plus-15, hardly notable enough to improve a fantasy team. He's registered just one shot on goal per game for his career, and has no power-play goals with just four power-play assists.

Edmonton's forward depth also takes a hit, as they trade their top offensive option. Look for RW Benoit Pouliot or LW Nail Yakupov to move into a full-time top-six role, barring a free-agent acquisition. Both are only options later in deep-league drafts."

It's coaching decision but also because they're strong at moving the puck forward and because the Devils' second/third pairs have had a lot of offensive defenseman who need sheltering - guys like Gelinas, Severson, Schlemko, etc.

Davidson-Larsson-Klefbom is going to be a very good, very cost-effective top 3 D. People shouldn't sleep on the Oilers.
Why does he get buried in the defensive zone? I think the rationale would be to put players in positions where they can succeed - play them to their strengths.
To me this indicates that given the options on the NJD roster (Schlemko, Sevreson etc) - the coach felt he had better offensive options for offensive zone starts.

Perhaps Chiarelli feels that he isn't getting the production from Sekera due to usage or defensive responsibility and pairing him with Larsson would free Sekera up?

Don't know what to say.

On one hand it seems the Oilers lost the trade value wise.

On the other hand I don't like this shift they appear to have made by trading their original golden boy dumb as a post winger for an actual top 4 NHL defenseman.

Some were saying that the Oilers were going to have to bite the bullet and lose a trade in order to eventually get better by clearing some of the entitlement out of the room.

Even with starting in the defensive zone, he has only 3 less pts than the team leader in scoring on D. The coach knows they suck on offense so the only way they can win games is to play defensively.

The biggest loser in this trade is Adam Larsson

Taylor Hall on 630 CHED says he feels "a bit slighted" by the move.

That states the role that his team played him in based on his TOI, zone starts, etc.

Doesn't mean that the stats he has make him that good of a player.

Oilers played him as a top-4 d-man with heavy offensive zone time opportunities - that is all that means.

Is anyone aware of any manager having written a book about what goes on behind the scenes? I wonder if there are actually managers that sit back like the shy boy at the dance and wait for others to approach them. Treliving is like the guy that asks all the girls to dance multiple times, over and over.

It would be neat to see a behind the scenes account.

Yeah I share the same sentiment. Oilers took a huge step forward in philosophy but got a crummy return on one of their biggest assets.

The big question is that Larsson has been paired with Andy Greene for the last couple of years, Greene has made his partners better. He's a solid smart defensive defenseman.

The Oilers don't have anybody like that to partner Larsson up with.

I can't help but think that the Oilers could have done something like Yakupov and a 4th for Larson instead of Hall...

Anyone remember when Edmonton took Hall first overall and Boston took Seguin second?

Man, how good is Dallas now?
