Why was moon ever banned? He was actually a pretty good contributor I thought. I didn't agree with a lot of what he said but he seemed to get the shaft by groupthink in some threads sometimes. People called him a troll but I think he honestly meant / thought what he wrote, and he was respectful from what I recall.
Anyway somebody please tell me that NBA ref thing is real... Because if so that's absolutely bat #### crazy hilariousness right there.

Gary Buttman is going to drag this out until the day Wideman dies.

Shocked that we haven't heard anything on the matter yet, doesn't even seem like it's being considered. Tier 1 season ticket holder speaking here. What did i just buy?

It is. You can go to their official website (NBRA.net), find the link to their Twitter feed, and get this:

Isnt the NBA the league that had at least one official convicted of fixing games?

Well the team paid that money out regardless. Players aren't paid per game, they're paid per contract.
No different than if a player is a healthy scratch. The money still gets paid. It just gets paid somewhere else when they're suspended.

I hear what you are saying, but it sure doesn't sound like the Flames are heading down a road of asking for compensation. I don't believe there are any actual grounds for compensation, although who knows how the league governs these sorts of things. It wouldn't be a CBA issue.

I think it came down to the language he used when he was criticizing something in hockey. A player he doesn't like is garbage, a coach or management he doesn't like, a moron. Never backs down, impervious to facts, and hijacks every thread he's in from the blowback to his posts.

Burke said they were going to move on. He also didn't blame the league for the delay - he said it was simply the process, which now has to be reviewed and modified.

Maybe this makes me a bad person, but I'm somewhat disappointing the Flames didn't raise more hell over this. Yes I know we took the high road and said all the right things, but I really think some stronger words were needed.
It didn't have to be around anything to do with the actual hit (i.e. keep the refs out of it). All Burke would have had to say was the length of time it took this process was ridiculous, chewing up 19 game of the schedule, to come to a conclusion. That was WAY too long and both Wideman and the Flames are the people coming out of the process as "losers" even though the arbitrator essentially ruled in favour of Wideman.
I don't think anyone could have argued with those comments, and it would have given the organization a little more backbone. It just seems like we did the puppy tail between the legs move and didn't really stand up for ourselves.

Publicly eviscerating the league would have gotten them nowhere, it would have just got their back up. I have no doubt Burke is back channeling the hell out of this, though I doubt we ever see something come of it, officially anyway.

It's very different. One involves a choice made by the team and the other does not.

I guess I more-so mean a contract is not a guarantee of games played.
The money is paid out regardless of if he plays or not (insurance covers it if he's injured). And despite the arbitrators decision, he was suspended during that time (the arbitrators decision is basically a paper transaction that allows Wideman to recoup lost funds).
I don't know, maybe I don't feel as slighted by the league as some do so I'm not really getting the issue.
