Default Big Dan on Kimbo and Dada

http://www.mmafighting.com/2016/2/21...oing-all-three

Quote:
So when McCarthy found himself assigned to the Bellator 149 co-feature bout between Slice, the 42-year-old special attraction who had fought just once in the past five years, and Dada, a street fighter with just two pro bouts legally known as Dhafir Harris, at Houston's Toyota Center, he was ready for anything.

Both fighters got visibly tired early after a first-round ground stalemate. But McCarthy was going to call the fight down the middle like any other bout and wasn't about to do the competitors any favors. That led to frequent restarts and standups, including an instance in the second round of a rare standup call with a fighter, Slice, in full mounted position.

"I always tell them, 'I'm going to stand you up unless you do something,'" McCarthy said. "I'm telling Kimbo, ‘Kimbo, do something.' And he's just tired. He's not trying to punch, he's not trying to go for a submission, he's just trying to catch breath and let time go by."
Quote:
Slice won via TKO in the third round, was wildly mocked online before it was revealed that Harris had a cardiac scare after the fight and was rushed to the hospital.

But while McCarthy obviously doesn't wish any ill upon Dada 5000, it was his job to call what's in front of him as a referee, and stop it at the appropriate time based on the available information.

"There was never anything that landed that was hard," McCarthy said. "They didn't hit each other with any hard shots. ... Look, there are people that paid money to see this fight. This is not just about you laying on somebody because you're both tired. That's your fault for coming into the fight in that condition."

For some reason in Canada most of the fight pass fights are also shown on the fight network. I get it as part of a sports bundle through shaw. I just checked and they're showing it live at 1pm on the 27th.

F you TSN and Telus! Your scheduling was incorrect, PVR recording tennis not fight night. Good thing I caught it an hour into the fights.

Yeah I just found that out as well. Its irritating because I can usually pass all the hype and ads and just watch the fights.

Pretty good fights last night, makes that Bellator card look like complete garbage (more so).

I missed the first couple fights and only saw three. They were alright. I thought that the main event was good and the co-main was ok, but not great. Now I can't even remeber what the other fight was, so I mustn't have been amazed by it!

RDA broke his foot, and is out of his title fight against Mcgregor. No replacement named yet, with just 12 days to go

I'm sure Conor will say that RDA is just another Brazilian bum who is scared and faking injuries, just like Aldo...

Unbelievable.

Asking Cerrone or Nate Diaz, they'll step up on such short notice. Two weeks night not be enough for all the trash talk if it's Diaz though lol

Conor looks well prepared. INITIALLY i thought Conor and this fight would go off without a hitch.

Wow....this injury stuff blows me away and how it happens and all the hype and excuses get brushed aside.

This is the only thing mystic Mike never predicts

Aldo turns down re-match, too short of notice.

Confirmed to be Nate Diaz. I wish they had a full camp. The trash talk is already going to be next level in the 12 day span

It's at the point that the UFC should have a 3rd fighter on call to be ready for every main event.

Shouldn't have to scramble to find a replacement on such short notice.
