I know all logic points to bad news, but please please let these people be ok. My stomach is churning right now waiting.

@ReidFiest

The ambulance has just left the acreage without its lights or sirens on. Fire tanker and truck from @City_of_Airdrie remains. #AmberAlert

Just spoke to #airdrie fire communications. No confirmation yet, being told they're "looking into it" #AmberAlert #yyc

To be clear: there was one ambulance & two supervisor SUVs at the scene. None had lights or sirens on. Trying to confirm why they were here.

Honestly, if I felt I didn't have any relevant information, I probably wouldn't want to get involved either. I read they were finger printing people who came and were checking the fingerprints against stuff found in the home. Not to mention being questioned (no matter how casually) by police without a lawyer is never a good idea... just isn't worth the potential risk, no matter how slight.

I cant imagine why STARS would be called unless there was signs of life. Does STARS transport deceased bodies normally?

Could be a medical issue with some of the search and rescue staff as well and we're just over reacting.

Unless the suspect was present at the sale, what information could be of value to the police by the other 112 people?

Didn't see this posted yet: http://metronews.ca/news/calgary/109...disappearance/

Detectives have interviewed former staffers of a freshly bankrupt gas exploration company founded and managed by missing Calgary man Alvin Liknes, Metro has learned.

Police have declined to delve into specifics on Liknes’ business dealings and how they pertain to their investigation into the mysterious triple abduction case involving the businessman, his wife and five-year-old grandson Nathan O’Brien.

But Marek Kozera — one of eight people who lost their job when Winter Petroleum Ltd. folded weeks ago — said he told investigators “everything” about his former boss and the company’s financial woes.

“I would like to help them as much as I can,” Kozera told Metro. “This is very unfortunate, looks like (a) tragic event.

“I really hope this has nothing to do with Winter.”

Little has been made public about the family’s past, but Kozera said the elder Liknes headed up the cash-strapped junior petroleum firm.

The company had its equipment seized by a rural Alberta county that it owed roughly $800,000 to in property taxes and late penalties, according to the company’s ex-chief operating officer.

Kozera said he and all of Winter’s employees officially resigned June 25.

Holy Smokes. No wonder they were having an estate sale. The Multi-Level Marketing angle should be looked into as well.

Nobody knows the answer to that. Investigators would want to talk to anyone who was present that day because they don't know what people witnessed. Often, witnesses have no idea that their recollection of seemingly meaningless information is actually of great value to an investigation.

Yes, and consider that every report I've heard suggests the furniture being sold was essentially worthless... very old, in some cases more than 20 years old. They were even selling a plastic tree bought in the 80's. These assets had so little value that even if judgements were to go against the grandfather personally, nobody would bother seizing these items for sale at auction. So the estate sale probably had two purposes, first, not having to dispose of anything at the dump, and second, getting at least some money out of what they have.

At the same time, holding an estate sale where the whole world is invited into your home to see what you have, and having your grandson sleep over that night, aren't things someone who fears for their safety would do. So this caught them by surprise for sure.

I'm somewhat confused by the fire truck and ambulance on seen at the acreage.
The Ambulance is on site as it is mandatory when divers are submerged, but the fire truck was dispatched to drain the pond the divers are in? Or are the divers submerged in a larger body of water on the property, and the fire truck draining a smaller pond?

Either way, with all the resources being used on the property, they must feel like they are on a good trail, incredibly worrisome that they are sending in divers and draining ponds in hopes of finding the missing family. I really hope this is not where they are found, and they are in fact still alive.

News media (via twitter) are creating panic and sensationalizing everytime a new emergency visits the property.

I had a feeling the ambulance was going to be a precaution because of the heat. Someone on site is bound to get heat stroke today. My money is on one of the reporters instead of a member of the search team

^^^ Agreed, the tweets the reporters are constantly putting out serve no purpose. Many others on twitter have said likewise. There are meaningful updates, but then there are countless tweets that serve no purpose and get people worked up for no good reason (plus completely useless ones like tweets saying they are applying mosquito spray or sunscreen).

Hey now, it's the media's job to make sure the police are using SPF 30 or higher in that kind of exposure. Someone has to make sure they stay honest out there!
