In the system, yes.But imo having them both in the lineup regularly will not help you win hockey games

Wasn't Westgarth on a 2 way contract? That's why I was fine with it. Or did the 'Canes have him on a 1 way?

One guy I would like to see the Flames target is Nikita Nikitin. He always seemed to impress me when he played us. He hits pretty hard and can get pucks on net. He will also stand up for teammates.

Pokka is a great prospect. If he isn't signed yet by the Islanders, it's just a matter of time. They won't let him go.

Don't know much about Koskinen the goalie, but his stats are huge and so is he. Could get signed by an NHL team.
My impression is that Team Finland chooses him over Rämö for the world championships if it's between the two. They're still waiting for Rinne as far as I know.

Don't think Jones is going anywhere. He's shown himself to be useless and he's pricey. He'll be here just to get us closer to the floor. I figure he sticks around but is often a healthy scratch.
Niskanen and Stasny are my picks for useful UFA's to bring in.
Regardless of who they get I think they'll be throwing great bucket loads of cash at guys to come here.

Biz can play a little, and might bring some of the same sort of value. Would not be averse to seeing him in Calgary, over others in similar role.

If you wanted a guy who could play a little and fight, flames should go after Engelland. I know he had a bad showing against Grata this year but he's a much better fighter than that plus he's a very versatile player and can play some defence too.

Why would Westgarth being on a 2 way vs. a 1 way impact your level of comfort? High level of concern for ownership money if we had sent him down?

As the Flames start to get a little bigger on D, and add a little more size in the top 6 forwards, I'd guess our need to employee more than one "purish goons" will diminish. But while our top forwards and even forward prospects are as small as they are, I wager Burke and crew will feel the need to have more "forced truculence" through the line. We can mock it all we want, but the team did play bigger and more physical and more confident after Westgarth was added. True it could merely be coincidence, but maybe not.

as a westgarth replacement or an upgrade on Blair Jones ---- how about Brian Boyle.... Huge guy that bumps into opponents 2 times/game. Only Bouma on the Flames had more hits .... can handle 12-15 minutes/game on a playoff team
Consistently wins more than 1/2 his faceoffs. Is only 29..

Boyle would probably be a good addition to the Flames, but it'd be a tough sell, I think, to lure him to Calgary to play on the fourth line. Bouma - Boyle - McGrattan would be a very intimidating line if Treliving was able to make it happen.

For those speculating the Flames would go after Summers because of the Treliving connection, he has re-signed with the Coyotes per capgeek.
