It is only a pre-season so I am not really worried. This game did not do the bubble players a favour. The whole team stank and not a lot of players really impressed at all. Tomorrow is D-Day(cut day) so here's what I think will happen tomorrow.

QB : I think Drew Tate will be a starter when the season starts based on the number of years he's been around in the league over Mitchell. Even though Tate didn't play well at all tonight, BLM didn't himself a favour because he was equally stink tonight as well. Third stringer is a tough one. Moniz might be a little ahead over Rusty Smith but you never know. I know one of them will be let go tomorrow or put in practice roster. I hope that's what Hufnagel do.

RB : No question, Jon Cornish and Matt Walter will make it. Jock Sanders will make it as well. He was good in the first game in both RB position and returner. Cote and St. Pierre will be in the lineup as FB. Charlie Power will be the odd man out.

Receivers : Some of the young guys will not make it due to numbers game. Safe to say McDaniel, Fuller, Lewis, Sinopli, Arthur, Parker, Price and West. Charbonneau-Campeau and Morin-Plante...one of them will be on the practice roster for the national. As for the rest, I like Cunningham because he can catch and a backup for Sanders(returner), unfortunately he might start as practice roster but I think he'll make if it wasn't for the numbers game. I think the Stamps will cut R Holland, Horne and Rucker not saying they are terrible but they cannot beat out the veterans.

OL :
I think the following players makes the team : Stanley Bryant, Edwin Harrison, Brett Jones, Brander Craighead, Pierre Lavertu, Dan Federkeil, Spencer Wilson, Billy Peach. Circelli, Bergman and Brad Erdos might start in Practice Roster or get cut.

Defense : I was not impressed with Rich Stubler supposedly awesome defense. I hope the lack of pressures from Defense is just for the pre-season because I am scared. I don't even think Kevin Glenn had to run for his life tonight at all. DL was not aggressive and DBs looks like an angel compared to Stamps' defense last few season.

DL :
The question is who will play opposite Charleston Hughes. Shawn Lemon, Freddie Bishop III, DeQuin Evans or Derek Wiggan. If we based it on tonight's game, I think Bishop had a slight edge. None of these guys really show much.

LB : i don't think the rookies will take any of Juwan Simpson, Keon Raymond or Deron Mayo's job anytime soon. Glenn Love might make it as a backup. If Bomar makes the team, it is for special team.

DB : The only battle here is between Ryan Steed and Buddy Jackson as CB. Steed looks good late in the game but Jackson played well in the first game as well. I hope they both make it because we haven't really seen much from this guys yet.

Special Team : no question here. Paredes, Maver and Jock Sanders.

Maybe Nik can handle the weight but it's getting embarrassing. It looks like he should be trying out for an OL position. His jersey looks a couple of sizes too small. I can't think coach and GM Hufnagel can be happy with it. It obviously must be slowing him down a bit. The way it's going I doubt he's back for next season. Personally I'm surprised Hufnagel hasn't released him already.

Why? He can still play and dominate. I don't really care if he is as big as an OLine as long as he can still catch the ball when needed and can still move.

He's one of a kind and would be shocked if he got cut.

Has to be Tate...BLM was no good last night at all. Looked like a guy who had never seen a CFL defense before.

Its a bit of a worrisome position all of a sudden as tate wasnt a whole lot better.

Nothing surprising with the Stamps cuts, imo.

Yep that's for sure. I was hoping to see what R Marcus Rucker can do but I am not even sure he sees the ball gone his ways during the 2 pre-season games. R Holland made some mistakes last night but he made some good things too. Unfortunately like I mentioned last night it was a numbers game as far receiver is concerned. He didn't show the coaching staff he is ready to take over from the veterans. Kind of dissapointed that I didn't see much of QB Rusty Smith. He played vs Winnipeg but I didn't really see him play because I was on the phone with my brother. I was hoping he goes to practice roster but there is a restriction of numbers of players you can put on PR. I am sure Huf will find a way to keep him if they like him.

Arthur hurt already? Wouldn't care if he's released when he's healthy.

Suspended list? these guys going back to school or can they be brought back whenever?

Yes both of Tate and BLM played awful... but in their defense, it is kind of hard to get your groove when you play two series then sits two series. I am confident that they'll be a lot better when season starts vs Montreal next week. My guess is Drew Tate as well as the starter. I like BLM but I think Tate is the safe bet and BLM wait for his turn. As far as the TSN jokingly saying it should be Glenn, yes he played well but he had an easy night last night. I don't even think I saw any pressure on him all night. Hopefully Rich Stubler didn't really use his game plan last night because it is only pre-season game because I was not impressed with his system last night.

It's too bad that Dixon was released. I was really pulling for him and a complete comeback. Tough luck.

Gotta think Tate's days are starting to be numbered now.

Wow. That is a very interesting call -- I hope it works out (based on his performances last year, I think it will). Worst case scenario, Tate gets plugged in at mid-season and hopefully stays healthy enough for a playoff run. Win/win I guess -- the last thing you want is for Tate to start week 1 and go down early in the season, leaving BLM as the only option left.

How so? We're not trading him (unless it's for another QB, which would be a baaad idea), nor are we cutting him. I believe he's on the last year of his contract (correct me if I'm wrong), so even if BLM shows enough this year to entrench himself as the starter, it just means Tate tries to land a starter's job somewhere else in 2015 (unless he's content being a backup, which I suspect is not the case).

Stamps made the right call here. Short term pain for long term gain. Plus it avoids the head case being the face of the franchise.

Whoa I never would have guess that. I am glad though because I like BLM. I wonder if Huf and the others thinks it is better to make sure Tate's arm is a 100% healthy. You didn't want him to go down early and be stuck with BLM and rookie Moniz as an option. Maybe Huf might name Tate as a starter if Adrian McPherson is healthy as a third stringer. At least if Tate goes down early, Stamps still have BLM and Adrian as an option. I wouldn't second guess Huf and DD though because they definitely know more than I do as far as Stampeders is concerned.
