Thanks, so is Teksavvy selling a subset of the available bandwidth, or is the slowdown just part of being on Shaw?

i.e. if I'm a Teksavvy customer, am I sharing the full bandwidth available to all Shaw & Shaw reseller customers in my area, or am I sharing a limited amount of bandwidth allocated to Teksavvy specifically?

There's a big long thread about this on dslreports: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r299...urs-in-Alberta

Basically nobody knows why it's slow for only Teksavvy customers-- Teksavvy did some upgrades about a month and a half ago that was supposed to fix the issue and it apparently did fix it for everyone in western Canada except for folks in Calgary (and seemingly Lloydminster as well)

I've been patiently waiting for a fix, since they are so much cheaper than the equivalent service through Shaw or Telus, but I'm not sure how much longer I can wait.

And to answer your question, you should be receiving the same bandwidth that you would be getting with the equivalent service through Shaw. I pay for 25Mbps and get close to 30 in the day-- it drops to 6 or 7 at best in the evenings from about 5-11:30pm.

Nucleus is no good without Pied Piper as it's backbone...

Haven't used unblock us much in the last few months, now I can't get the Apple tv to stop reverting back to the Canada. Unblock us website shows everything should be working, but it reverts back to Canada once I watch US netflix and then go back to apple tv main menu.

Their support people seem pretty good. I've had success in the past when getting a hold of them via twitter.

Recently bought an Apple TV and have the american stuff on it, is there a way to get access to all that stuff like ESPN, FX, Fox now without having an american cable subscription?

I tried using my Dad's Arizona cable info, but it says I need a centurylink email which I don't think he has. Any other ways around this?

If it's an ATV3, it's not possible without subscription and vpn. With older generation of the ATV it is possible, but there are far better boxes out there. On those other devices, one can use Kodi to stream content - the limiting factor (or not) is legality and stream availability/quality.
There are good sites/support forums out there. Here at CP, rules prohibit the discussion of any illegal content 'stealing'.

If you want to get those channels without stealing, I'd check out Sling TV. It's very reasonably priced and I think it has the content you're looking for. You still need a US proxy of some type but it looks like you've got that covered.

Anyone have any experience with this OTA HD antenna from Monoprice?

I'm down in Silverado and can't quite get my cheapo Phillps model from Cargo XS to pull in everything to a quality I can handle watching.

I'm guessing amplified should be better than not, so it would be better I'm sure.
By quality, I expect you mean signal cutting in and out? Because if you get the channel sometimes it won't take much to get it always.

Really though, what's stopping someone from just creating a new ID?

Probably what I'll do. If not I'll just go back to watching for free until HBO Now comes to Canada (if that ever happens).

Amazing how you're willing to pay, but we simply can't because of all this stupid CRTC bull**** and copyright crap that should be North American wide and not this stuff between Canada and US.

So instead of willing to pay for a service, we have to go and illegally access the things we want.

I fought the good fight for a number of years when it came to CRTC crap and copyright stuff between countries so close, that I have finally given up. I just get what I want, when I want it now because this whole system is broken in Canada to appease the large Canadian corporations to ensure they make as much money as they possibly can.

I gave up too, long ago, for these same reasons. And they still haven't changed anything.
So I still just take what I want. And I'm not even sure now, after all this time that I've been a thief, that I would ever pay.
They are to blame for my lawlessness? Sure - I'll go with that.

I'm cutting the cord!
One question I'm hoping someone can answer: How do I watch Flames games? The method I was going to go with was Gamecenter + UnblockUs to get around the blackouts.
Anything else?

You don't need to as there's no blackouts. Might be a bit cheaper, but you risk losing your subscription if they notice your in Canada

It really makes zero sense to pay for Game Centre in Canada... Sign with Rogers for a 2 year smartphone plan and get it for free.

Actually I think it even works month to month as well.
