Just remember Bouwmeester does have a NTC, this could be a similar situation to Iginla.

I would avoid getting too high on any of these reports

Max Gardiner's a 6'3" 190lb centre who put up 21 points in 27 games as a college sophomore with Penn State. While Penn State isn't in the greatest division in the NCAA and doesn't face very difficult opponents, his size and point totals are too intriguing especially as a fringe/secondary prospect.

I like "Flipper", but how much center does he actually play?

...and even with an extension, he's no spring chicken. I mean, 29 isn't old or anything, but in 5 years he'll be 34, where as if the Flames targeted a near NHL ready prospect, that kid would be in his mid twenties by the time the Flames could be legitimately competing for a Cup again.

If we don't get any solid offers, theirs no harm in keeping him. We can always try unloading him at the draft.

Anyone know what deal is with him though? Looks like he spent 2010-11 with Minnesota getting only 3 points in 17 games than spent the entire 2011-12 season back in the USHL only scoring 26 points in 50 games. Then jumping back to the NCAA with Penn State and putting up those numbers you noted.

I think the Flames fan base has been completely soured on the NCAA after what we got for Iggy. But really, if we take a step back, take a deep breath, and think, it's a good developmental league with more mature, bigger, stronger players.

With that said, I don't want all of our prospect to be in the NCAA. We do need some balance haha.

He jumped straight from High School to the NCAA (kind of like Jankowski), found out he couldn't cut it just yet, so he took a step down to the USHL for a season. Then transferred to Penn State.

I wonder then if this makes him eligible for 'the loophole'? Kind of weird for him to do that.

Since Feaster had the Bruins sign Matt Bartkowski to a one way deal just to include him in the Iginla deal, how about the Flames just trade 'em Jay instead....

To Boston: Bouwmeester + Comeau (to make up for the blunder)

To Calgary: Bartkowski, Khokhlachev, 1st

This is one trade where I don't mind being completely underwhelmed by what Feaster gets back in return. The direction the Flames were going completely changed when he got here. Get rid of him, the more you can get for him the better. But I just want him gone.

Dont want either one of those players.

Make it Hamilton for Jaybo straight up. Hamilton has a lot of potential but Jaybo is proven, signed for another year, only 29, and increases their odds of winning the cup.

... you do realize that Bouwmeester is the biggest asset we have and should fetch more than Iginla, right? Why would we trade him for the same offer and even add Comeau?

The amount of ice time he logs is nice but for the price the Flames pay he could be more physical. I would not be sad to see him go but I would prefer if he would play a more solid defensive role while adding the offensive aspects.

StL is not dealing a roster player - will be prospects/picks by all accounts.

I was one of those thinking St.L would be a great destination but with a couple RFA's at the season end they cant be adding 6 mill player for next season as well.
Sobotka is a guy I would want back and Philip McrRea if Jay did indeed head that way.
