Haha shows how much I know. And his brother just turned 16. Explains a lot!

Tonight's prospect stats:

Ferland had 2 assists
Baertschi was a -4
Wotherspoon was a -2
Holland had 1 assist
Leach had 1 assist

Ferland has now passed Kevin Sundher and Ty Rattie to take 3rd overall in WHL scoring. Wow... just wow.

It's quite an amazement considering the only two players he is behind are Etem, a decent 1st round pick, and Stone, who seems to be paying huge dividends to the Sens.

Wonder if playing with Stone a contributor to their amazing stats.

Here's a little article about Ferland from the Native Hockey News. This fellow is a late bloomer with perseverance.

Max wasn't injured last night but rather suspended for breaking team rules.

Quote:
The biggest news of the night is that the club did it without the services of their leading scorer, Max Reinhart. Reinhart, who re-joined the club after playing for Team WHL in the CHL Super Series in Regina and Moose Jaw Wednesday and Thursday, along with five other members of the club were all suspended one game each for breaking team rules.

I really like this. It's a real feel good story coming from a poor family and he only played house league for all but one year. This just makes me want the kid to succeed even more.

Good for him.

As for Max, it was likely that he went to a party or drank alcohol or broke curfew. Only a one game suspension.

Flames should sign this kid right now if they haven't already done so. It would probably mean a lot to him too if his family isn't wealthy.

Abbotsford and Houston in shootout: 0-0. Irving with another shutout. Irving stops all five shooters in shootout and Heat win 1-0. Sylvester with shootout goal.

Reinhart back in the line-up tonight and has Kootney's only goal so far.

Heat beat Houston 1-0 tonight in a shoot out.

Complete a 7 game road trip 6-1-0 and sit alone at the top of the Western Conference.

Irving stopped 34/34 shots in regulation and OT for the shut out.

He also stopped all five Aeros shooters in the shoot out.

Sylvester scored the only shoot-out goal for the win. (Walter, Rhealt, Nemisz were stopped)

Heat win again when Irving stops all five shots in the shootout.

Just finished listening to the Heat game. Sounded like the boys were pretty dog tired playing their 3rd game in 3 days. Lots of penalties, no finish, and the were leaning heavily on Irving. But hey, you'd be tired too!

Quite the campaign so far! Bancks was out with a suspected injury, and Kolanos sat for precautionary reasons. I gotta say, I love this team!

Irving now 4th in GAA in the AHL. 10th in SV%. And 1st in shutouts.

The 3 goalies ahead of Irving for GAA lead have only played a maximum of 7 games. Irving has played 18. Kid's a workhorse.

If he keeps this up there's no way he should be in the AHL next year.

When I spoke with T.J. Brodie this week, guess who was the first teammate he recommended should be in the NHL?

That's right: Irving.

(Greg Nemisz was also mentioned as someone who should be in the NHL)

I guess that begs the question: If Leland Irving is in the NHL next year, and it appears as if he should, is it a) with Calgary? or b) with another NHL team? If the answer is 'a', then who does he replace- Kipper or Hank?

I prefer character player, as in it takes character to show up for work still half in the bag and with a hangover.

Good question, I'd like to see Irving get a few games with the Flames this season. It will give us a better read on his status.
