I think so too. A remarkable surge by Redford and stall by Mar. Redford touting Horner as her second choice will play well with Horner supporters and will likely propel her on the second ballot.
That Mar looks like he won't get to victory on 1st choices is quite something given how close he was after the first vote a couple of weeks ago.

Does any know how that plays in to everything. So of the numbers I'm seeing on Twitter are less than a 100 votes difference.

Carter will be insufferable after this if Redford wins. It was bad enough after Nenshi.

Effectively even...as in .05% split.

If neither Mar nor Redford gains a majority, they take the second choice on all ballots cast for Horner and add those in.
Some of the commentary on the Herald chat says that 65% of Horner's supporters picked Redford second. If so, Mar needs to be in the very high 40s after the first ballots to have a chance.

You just have to remind him of past campaigns/pr events and he just grins and then quiets down.

Absolutely...but credit where its due. Aside from political watchers no one knew who Alison Redford was 6 months ago and she could easily be premier after tonight. Thats impressive by itself. Now factor in that he also got Nenshi elected...definitely incredibly good at his job!
I know you'll be reading this Stephen, so feel free to PM me and we can have a coffee so you can tell me how stupid it was for me to suggest throwing in the towel a couple of weeks ago! Oh, and congratulations (pre-emptively). I emailed another campaign guy today and told him this: brilliant campaign.

It would be an absolutely incredible year for him. Defintiely one of the best in the business! Who's next, Prime Minister?

So when I went to vote today, I forgot about the "first choice, second choice" thing.
.....
I was like..."what?" And so...here we are. My SINGLE vote means nothing.
Hopefully Mar comes out on top.

If you voted for Mar or Redford, your second choice never would have mattered.
If you voted for Horner, then, well, you're an idiot.

54 of 85 polls
Mar 17021 = 40.22%
Redford 16087 = 38.01%
Horner 9217 = 21.78%
Mar is running out of polls. I can't imagine that Redford has less than 70% of Horner's 2nd choices.
Alberta is becoming like BC. The PC's and Liberals have basically merged supporters.
Edit:
Maybe not, Mar just opened up a 4 point lead.

Gary Mar loses @griffmla and Ted Morton's ridings. #pcldr #ableg

Interesting little tid bit here. As someone who was behind Doug Griffiths, I thought it was very odd that he swung support for Mar.
I understand his decision, but for me (as a somewhat casual observer) Redford and Griffiths were of a similar cloth. The second the Griffith was eliminated, I started to lean towards Redford. Which it looks like how the rest of his supporters leaned.
