Why throw it to the end zone on 2nd and 3rd down? Terrible decisions. Way to give us hope and then disappoint again. If the Riders had played like that the rest of the game this game wouldn't have been close.
The first 50 minutes played by the Roughriders was probably the worst football played so far this season.
Welcome to Staggerville.

I hope you're kidding with the Getzlaf comment. That would have been a circus catch.
But I agree with you on the 2nd and 3rd down calls. Riders had about 25s left. Only needed 20 yards. Why go endzone twice?

Good players make plays beyond their job description. Yeah it was a bad throw but make a play to win the game! A better throw leading the receiver and its a TD. I'll need to see the replay again but it looked to me as Getzlaf just dropped it without the DB getting much of a play on the ball, he played the man.
If it had been Lewis or Bryant you would probably be saying similar things.

Barker obviously didn't watch last weeks film as going prevent against the Riders doesn't work. Put pressure on him, take away his first read and he's one of the worst in the league. Give him all day in the pocket and open receivers underneath an he's going to make plays.
Very satisfying to see the Riders back where they belong in the basement. You can only live on big plays, lucky bounces, and biased officiating for so long before it catches up with you and actual players in the trenches are forced to decide the outcome. That's a bad football team with a bad coaching staff and they aren't getting the bounces this year.

I'm more disapointed that the reffing conspiracy directly coincided with the Riders having a more talented roster.
Why wouldn't the refs continue the conspiracy now that we suck, the Oline sucks, the defence sucks, the receiving corps is mediocre and Durant is playing with the confidence of a 15 year old emo kid?
Was it only convenient for the refs to help us when we were already good? Or maybe the Riders have been this bad all along and they only made it to 3 of the last 4 Grey Cups but we stopped the bribing (or it became too obvious) and now we're suffering.
I blame Mark Cohon and the drug policy. Riders were using the Bane formula for a while there.

For the Riders having basically the same roster as last year. They are playing like complete garbage. 1 and 7 that sounds so nice!
BTW what is with Jim Barker is he the worst coach at play calling and clock management when it comes to late in the 4th QTR. He looked like a deer in the head lights on the sidelines. Barker was dazed and confused. Wakke up dummy the Riders were moving the ball because you went into a soft center Zone coverage. Didn't even challenge anything on the outside. Any team is going take those 10-15yrd quick gains. Wow Barker got damn lucky he coaches like that every game late in the 4th.
Even though I picked Edmonton. Come on BC beat them up and win.

The Riders have fired both Marshall and Berry. Ken Miller returning to the sidelines.

Uhh what?
Riders roster is totally different from last year. We lost the leagues leading receiver.
No Bagg, no Fantuz, no Koch plus a bunch of guys on defence. They also have lost the current Esks head coach and Bombers head coach from previous years who were coordinators. There have also been some retirements and guys like Gene Makowski getting older. They also released Korneguay and Mullinder, lost Kitwana Jones - who was a monster for us in the past - to the Als.
That's like saying the Eskimos have pretty much the same roster as last year with a little bit of turnover. Although they actually have a lot more turnover than the Riders, but in a good way, they dumped garbage. Riders lost valuable parts.

After starting the season with a 1-7 record, Greg Marshall and Doug Berry have been fired by the Riders. Ken Miller will take over as head coach.

Seriously? Check your Riders roster It is almost entirely the same with relation to all the starters. Sask is missing no more than any "normal" amount of turnover for any team. Players come and go in the CFL. Now if you want to talk about changes the Stamps Oline for the most part is New. The Secondary is completly revampted. Special teams KR new Kicker new. A rookie WR.
All of the TSN panel prior to game 1 said Sask is gooing to win the west and Calgary will finish 3rd. Why did they say that, because of all the changes the Stamps had to make and the very little the Riders had to make.
Riders have Excuses excuses and Makowski is with out a doubt one of the dirtiest players in the CFL and has been for years. And as Korneguay and Mullinder you would hard pressed to find many Melonheads that would have thought they would get cut. Besides thats something the Riders did to themselves.

So what key members of the Stamps left? Browner, Anderson. What key offensive weapons did the Stamps lose?
And both of those guys were detriments to the team IMO, especially Anderson. The guy is a clown.
They may have had skill but those guys were completely me first bozos who constantly took stupid penalties that hurt the Stamps.
And posting some crap about the TSN panel means nothing. I would have predicted the Riders to finish anywhere from 9-9 to 12-6.
They'll obviously do worse than that but saying they have the same roster is totally out to lunch. I think the Riders should be better than their record because they still have some talent. I honestly think there are a lot of problems with the coaches getting the most out of a decent roster.
The Riders are underachieving, there's no doubt about that. They should be more like .500 or better after the competition they've faced so far.

Two big big losses.
Not offensive guys but huge parts of the team's success a year ago.
In fact I would say losing a key offensive lineman is among the most significant losses a team can suffer.

I have a feeling Marshall and Berry won't be the last coaches Durant gets fired. As Stamps fans know it's hard to win football games when Frank makes an appearance turning over the ball and making bad throws. Well that's been Durant pretty well all season. That fumble on the first series last night was killer in that it signalled another poor start and leg to Argos points.
I can see a small initial spark with Miller back but really the talent on the team really isn't that good on either side of the ball.

And that is the main reason why they are 1-7. Taman and Miller didn't replace the guys they lost. Interesting management structure for the Riders right now, the HC is the GM's boss.

And the riders lost key offensive guys, more than the Stamps, including Oday who was an offensive lineman.

Who did the Riders lose better than Archibald? Fantuz? Really? Also when's the last time a team has lost both of their starting All-star corners in one offseason? Remember the Stamps have played the better part of two seasons without Rambo and he was the leading receiver in the league the season before the early horse collar tackle and they never missed a beat offensively. The fact is that the Stampeders organization is better at evaluating talent and ensuring that the cupboards are stocked. All of the Riders best players were brought in by Tillman and since he's left there's been a huge drop off in talent. Riders are a bad team but they are lucky that only two teams miss the playoffs in the CFL so they can still make the playoffs with a losing record.
