Just wanted to get a few opinions on this song. Regardless of genre/image I thought this was pretty sweet song. Love the half time.

Im going to take a step back and share with all the metal heads the first metal album that got me into metal. Please share yours as well.

It is Avenged Sevenfold - Waking The Fallen

Now before you laugh, understand that the singer actually used to scream. This album is so perfect from start to finsih its hard to explain. The amount of change-ups in each song is astounding, and the way they all come together is mind boggling. Almost Tool-esque. Is is easily the best produced metal album I have ever heard.

I ask only one thing, and that is: if you love metal, download the album/listen on youtube, and listen to it start from finish. No skipping songs, just listen. Give it an honest chance.
Anyone that has, cant look me in the eyes and say that isnt a well made album.

Heres the first 3 songs (including intro) to get you started:

Anyone get the new Megadeth yet? I am quite liking it. Still consistently one of my favorite bands album to album.

Endgame is good, but United Abominations was pretty awful. At least compared to everything else they've done.

Was anyone else at the In Flames show last night?
I thought it was an excellent show and the big four was decent place for the show. It would be a better venue if it didn't have those giant pillars all through it.

I just discovered Candlemass, I think they are really good. Not super heavy, but heavy, if you know what I mean.

Eh Im not big on it. I mean if you like it cool but myself Im getting wore out on all these new death metal bands with obligatory breakdowns. Sorry I just think the death metal genre, today, is severely watered down and its hard to find new bands that dont sound like each other.

Anyways thats just my opinion but taste is subjective of course and if you like it thats all that matters.

Bring me the horizon and avenged sevenfold have been classed as metalcore and Protest the hero is progressive metal.

As soon as there is screaming/growling its pretty much metal. Even if you "hardcore metal heads" dont think it is.

I like good music, regardless of genre.

Ohhhhh I would have to disagree vehemently. Sorry but screaming growling does not make metal, and for the same reason Nicklebacks dropped down distorted guitars do not make them metal.

Many elements of metal have been infused into todays modern mainstream music, and its sad.

Anyways, again, if you like something, thats great. I wont turn this into an elitist banter, but thats just my two cents.

Avenged Sevenfold is hard rock, and closely comes to metal, but I wouldn't call them metal.

Machine Head on the other hand. Well they kick ass.

The Encyclopaedia Metallum is pretty much the definitive way of determining if a band is metal or not.

http://www.metal-archives.com/

They don't feel that those three bands are metal enough.
