Well, at least the moron is getting charged with something.

Greenhill, was charged with careless discharge of a firearm -- a misdemeanor which carries a sentence of up to 2 years in prison or a fine of $2,000. He didn't speak to reporters after his court appearance Monday.

"We are working on a more serious charge at this time. We have not completed our investigation," Dundee police Chief David Uhl told reporters. "You have got to get more diligent with the guns. Be a lot safer with them."

I have neighbors who bought the house across the street to live in for a while, remodel and flip. They are from Bell, Florida which is a small town outside of Gainesville. They are probably the nicest people in the neighborhood so it's sad that the house is up for sale and they're going back to their 40 acres. The teenaged son's chief complaint about living here is that he can't go out and shoot guns in the backyard. Oh well.

There was also a guy in Georgia who gained entry to an elementary school. He had an AK-47 and other weapons and made it in by following a guy who got buzzed in. The guy didn't get past the office and a school worker talked him out of doing what he was likely going to do. I believe some shots were fired. No one hurt.

It is thought he is mentally ill and he himself said he stopped taking his medication. He was also a convicted felon not allowed to possess firearms.

And today, Antoinette Tuff is being hailed as a hero.

While students were escaping, inside the school, Tuff, the school's bookkeeper, called WSB-TV in Atlanta to say the gunman asked her to contact local media outlets. WSB said during the call, shots were heard in the background. Assignment editor Lacey Lecroy said she spoke with Tuff, who said she was alone with the man and his gun was visible.

In an interview on ABC's "World News with Diane Sawyer" Tuff said she worked to convince the gunman to put down his weapons and ammunition.

"He told me he was sorry for what he was doing. He was willing to die," Tuff told ABC.

She told him her life story, about how her marriage fell apart after 33 years and the "roller coaster" of opening her own business.

"I told him, 'OK, we all have situations in our lives," she said. "It was going to be OK. If I could recover, he could, too."

Then Tuff said she asked the suspect to put his weapons down, empty his pockets and backpack on the floor.

"I told the police he was giving himself up. I just talked him through it," she said.

Feel free to speculate about how many dead there might have been if, rather than talking the gunman into surrendering peacefully, some cowboy wannabe hero started a firefight in the school instead.

No, but they could go up against them with their AR-15 variants (assault rifles), the very guns that Feinstein and the rest of them wanted to ban, even though they are responsible for very few murders in the States compared to hand guns.

No, they really couldn't. You think cost matters to a "tyranical" goverment? Like really? They're the government, they control the currency after all.

That said, they could go cost effective and go nuclear. Not sure an AR-15 can do much there.
