Had to unfollow Will Nault on twitter tonight. What a miserable existence he lives.

Markstrom played his best game of the series IMO...low bar I know. Made a massive save before they tied it

Eff that.
He's had 3 games to rebound. He was arguably most at fault tonight.
2 freebies. Difference between a W and L.
Like Sutter says, you need to get a save. Not getting it.

First goal obviously...others are to blame for the other 3

Dude. Over 5.00 GAA this series. Held them to 4 plus an EN. Low bar indeed

Tough to pin it on one Player.
Backlund has been a stud though and deserves better.

Backs gets it. And he's been through enough over the years here to get what it takes.
Proud of the guy.

This season isn't the end point for Sutter. That's one year from now. They are in it to win it now, but the timeline for this team, Sutter's team, is until next year.
Player development is never linear and never finished. I don't think Sutter risks Markstrom's development by not letting him see the series through.

Better team on paper? No.
Edmonton is, but always managed to play like the keystone cops. Now they are playing up to their potential, and it's more than a good Flames team can handle.

2 of the goals the Oilers have a guy uncontested at the side of the net free to whack away. One goes off a Flames stick.
Sometimes you actually have to looked beyond the stats. Flames D is getting owned.
First goal 100% on him obviously

God I hope not. The Flames are going to see a marked decrease in talent from this year to next. Quite possible that one of Chucky or JG is gone.
We would need to have some really good players in the wings to take the next step, and I don't think we do.

Correct. Except you can change "may" to almost certainly not. The time for learning is over. The time for growing is over. The time for all of that is over, it's not 2015 anymore. This core can't hack it. It really looks like 5 playoff wins in a season may be the ceiling for this group. You can get mad, call me negative, deny it, but it's the reality staring all of us in the face whether you want to see it or not. I wish it wasn't true either, but it is.
At this point, let's just see if they can muster enough heart to stave off elimination on their home ice to the main rival team with our building crawling with oil fans. Even that would be an accomplishment because this 2015-2022 flames group has only ever won ONE elimination game, and that was 10 days ago. And they've never won an elimination game when they're trailing in the series, 0-4. Yet another disappointing data point that something is missing from this group.

Dude just shut it...Oilers have a few good players but they aren't a good team on paper.
Flames are totally blowing it...the Avs will destroy them if that series happens.

Doesnt matter, this was the game Markstrom needed to steal and he was below average. Period. I know its tough to have a rough go this time of year but hes out of excuses now just needs to let in less than the other guy

There's a reason why Marky was brought in for 6x6 instead of the team keeping Talbot at a lower cap hit. Marky was brought here not to just be ok, but to be great. The expectation was that he would make ten bell saves from time to time in addition to making all the routine ones. He's at times letting in routine ones, while also not making ten bellers that often. That's why his goals against is way higher than expected goals against this series. Not nearly good enough. No amount of excuses can explain away the reality of the situation.
Marky has been brilliant for this team throughout the regular season and first round. But he's been simply bad this series.

excuse me? i never asked for money , some posters offered it. Because I am upset at the loss you feel bad that some generous people helped someone do something fun after having just come within seconds of death 4 times. Not very nice comment, if you only knew what i'm going through just to survive. Watching the flames is pretty much the only thing giving me something to look forward to and is an escape from my barely low quality of life.

What are you loling even? I said it was his best game of the series...nothing more
Coming off his best game of the series he obviously gets the start next game
I never said he has been good this series...in fact I said he wasn't. Only one tonight is on Markstrom, it's not like Smith was good either.

Fair enough. I thought he was better last game, except for tonight’s first goal
Doesn’t matter if he starts or not because he isn’t a difference maker
