I am 90% sure that Fergus & Bix has it on tap as a holiday special import right now! Plus damn good food!

Great suggestions guys, I'll definitely hit these up.

I've been trying a number of beers from Co-Op Liquor Store for a while and there's lots of great stuff. I'll try and track down some names as I had a great IPA recently. Nice and strong.

If you're into IPAs you have to try the Dogfish head 90 minute IPA. It's my favorite thus far.

Viru is a wicked pilsner style beer. Tried it at first just because of the cool bottle but it's great

Guys - If you post a beer, post where you got it - so that others can find it!

So far I've only found it in the Kensington Wine Market, but the Belgian PALM beer is a fantastic lager. I've seen it served once, at Taste on First Street.

Awesome restaurant. The moules frites (mussels and fries) there are excellent.

Someone did have that! I can't remember what I had but they had very reasonable prices and good portions. I had something with fries and the fries were very good

Erdinger Weissbier....tasty!

You can find it at most liquor stores, specifically Willow Park, and the liquor store across from Pizza Delight in Evergreen. It used to be available on tap at The Unicorn as well, not sure if it still is.

*hint* Hold the glass at a slight angle and pour the beer in slowly along the side of the glass. Don't empty the bottle though - leave about a finger's width at the bottom.

Swirl the bottle gently in order to agitate the yeast. Then pour the remaining beer into the glass.

I just typed out a big long message and lost it. The abbreviated message now! Woo.

I 2nd the recommendations of dogfish head IPA as well as the Gouden Carolus and St. Bernardnus seasonal ales (try the non seasonal versions too! very good!)

A good entry beer for the belgian ale category that most people will like even if they have never tried this genre is the blue Chimay. Very smooth and very good. You can find big bottles of this at Willow Park.

Two different cool beer types to try would also be Barleywines and Lambics. They are very very different when compared to regular beers and have significant taste and brewing differences.

I would recommend the Mill St. Barleywine. Cool bottle, very nice taste. Note that there is extremely little to no carbonation in this beer.

For lambics...they are all good, you can't go wrong. They are kind of like the cooler of the beer world. They are sweeter, some are very very sour and have a very interesting taste.

Those are two examples. The second one is quite sweet, and the cantillons tend to be pricier (a bit) and more sour than sweet.

Damn you, I was gonna suggest that! I was at Fergus & Bix in West Springs earlier this year, and was pleasantly surprised that they had Granville Island beers on tap. Agree about the food too. I wish that place existed when I lived up there.

Not sure if they still do, but the Distillery used to have McNally's Reserve on tap, it's a nice winter beer.
