I've been in the ad/promotions business (and has never lived in Regina or in Saskatchewan nor has ever wanted to), I think that was a pretty good campaign.
Pretty simple Problem-Solution format. Nothing groundbreaking, but I bet it was effective.

I think it's just cultural dynamics. People in Calgary are more likely to have a "can't complain" attitude, while people in Toronto are more likely to have a "I wonder what my therapist would say about this" attitude. Maybe this just shows in which cities it is most socially acceptable to be unhappy. Just speculation on my part, of course.

London & Paris both have "Christmas Markets" and lit up streets at this time of year. Calgary could conceivably do the same along the Stephen Ave. Mall. All Toronto has is Yonge St (nasty, though not quite as scummy as in the '70's) where the news item of the day yesterday was a Ryerson University librarian taking pictures of the Zanzibar strippers on their smoke break on the roof - Toronto, a class act all the way.
I never thought that I would come to the defense of Toronto, ever in my life. But to say it has no character is way off base. Sure it doesn't have a lot of history or character compared to Europe, but some neighborhoods are amazing. And the history it does have, along with the old buildings and architecture put Calgary to shame. It is one of my favourite things about living here. Try the Christmas market in the Distillery District for one. Liberty Village, King St, Queen St, Yonge St, Annex, the Beaches, Kensington Market, the list can go on and on. Toronto doesn't just have Yonge St, and there will be a ton I miss about this city once I move back to Calgary.

But the people here are very "me first" and the traffic alone can make you miserable.

well your city smells like poo...and your concert venue sucks.
