1. Elections bring out the crazies.
2. Alberta Health Services is a private organization. They are funded by the government but they are not part of the government.
Duckett was given a situation in which the Unions have way to much power and have made to much money, especially support services (and I work in one of the jobs part time while I go to university). That being said there needs to be a serious look at the health care system and what can make it more efficient, and that includes looking at health promotion and healthy living. Also perhaps and this might sound cold but perhaps our population is getting so old that there is no reasonable way in which we can support everyone with every health care need... and now there is talk about a national pharmacare program. I don't see where the money is going to come from.

He wasn't speaking at the media scrum and frankly he is in a position in which if he is asked questions such - he should be able to answer them better than, "I'm eating my cookie". It made him look foolish and frankly that he doesn't care about the state of health care in the province. When you are in a position such as the one he is in, you don't take coffee breaks in front of the media like that. It looked bad.

His first reaction was to shove a cookie in the reporters face...he could have said at the start "We have a media scrum where I will be available to answer all of your questions...in the meantime I've got to get Mr Christie in my mouth"
No doubt that he is a arse...that doesn't mean he isn't the right person to lead AHS...but this has got to hurt his ability to lead.

Any reason behind your accusation? From what I understand, he was well qualified to be hired for his job. Just because he was annoyed at the media does not make him a dumbass. What do you do for a living?

It was a childish and immature way to act. Not the way you expect a highly paid official to. It shows the guy is a smarmy twerp, and the way he even said cookie in a baby like high pitch voice makes me want to punch him in the throat.
We are all customers of Alberta health care and shouldn't be treated like 2 year olds on a playground when we ask questions of the manager of the company. If someone walked into our dealership, and as a manager in the building, I ignored a clients questions my stuffing a ham sandwich in my face and repeating ,"I'm eating my ham sandwich!" I would be fired on the spot by the owner.
I was just hoping the whole video he would slip on the ice, shatter his hip, followed by one of the reporters throwing the cookie at his head and saying "here's your cookie....bitch!" and then subsequently have to wait 18 months for a hip replacement.

I base my accusation of him being a dumbass on him acting like a dumbass. Not to mention it doesn't take a genius to realize that the health care system and emergency rooms are a joke right now.
I am a genius though. Rocket scientist actually. And, porn star.

This is a very good point, If this was an elected position we might end up with some crazy who yells out he's eating a cookie in the middle of the street for 5 minutes. That would truly be embarrassing.

I don't disagree that he was foolish in regards to the dumb cookie incident, but I think he was hired to work on some very difficult health care related issues. I don't know where he is headed regarding health care, it sounded like you knew something, apparently you don't either.

I know what I see. I can see he's not fit for the job for several reasons. One, I've watched enough interviews with him to realize all he does is say what people want to hear. Two, I've been inside an emergency room, and can see everything he likes to run his yap about are clearly not working. (Oh, that's right, his "plan" is a slow process that takes time and money and evaluation, and apparently at least 5 years. That's ok though, it's not like this is an issue where time is of the essence, woman can keep aborting in hospital bathrooms) AND THREE, the man obviously has some sort of sexual fetish for cookies.
Pretty sure I understand the situation just fine.

You are just confirming that you know nothing about what you are talking about. And that is coming from someone that does not necessarily have confidence in Duckett being successful in Alberta. There are too many people that will be sick in Alberta that have unrealistic expectations as to what a hospital should provide that don't want to spend the money. This population is aging, I am not sure what anyone can do. To blame this on a guy that really has not caused the problems is strange...
I have no idea if Duckett's plan will be the right plan, or even what the plan is going to look like. I am certainly not bashing the guy's skills from an interview, the press IMO should bugger off in most situations. As soon as the papers seemed to move from actual news to sensationalism my thoughts on reporters dropped immensely.

^the problem is that while a lot of people know nothing of his plan (myself included) his obvious unwillingness to answer questions on the subject makes him unqualified for the job. I don't need to know everything there is to know about healthcare to recognize that.

I know people in the industry and he is widely hated. After seeing this video I can see why. What a typical ###### bag you would expect at the top of a poorly run organization. He makes absurd money for pushing paper and wants to act like he's making 20 bucks an hour in the union and can have his quiet coffee breaks.
Doctors and nurses should be well paid.
