What does cloud based mean for the 1000's of songs I already have on my computer? I don't have a good understanding of what the big deal is? To me cloud sounds like you'd be buying the license to listen to a song, as opposed to downloading a copy of it. Pretty stupid idea.

I agree, especially if there is no option for me to buy a CD and rip it and store it in the cloud.
Sure it might drive iTunes business, but not for me.

Well this is getting weirder... Now there are strong rumors of it actually being about the Beatles...
Quote:
The big news of the day has been Apple's iTunes-related announcement scheduled for tomorrow, and one of the rumors that has been gaining traction in the hours since the news broke is that Apple may finally have struck a deal to bring The Beatles to the iTunes Store.
For starters, the sources in the past that quashed any rumors of an impending Beatles launch are today very quiet, and strangely so. Next is the wording of the teaser on Apple's website. The first line is, "Tomorrow is just another day." As noted earlier, "Another Day" is a Paul McCartney song released on his solo record "Ram," but written during the Beatles' "Let it Be" sessions.
Also, for those into hunting for more clues, Apple's teaser page features four clocks, each with the arms in different positions, (denoting the time of the announcement in California, New York, London and Tokyo time zones). Pretty unnecessary unless you compare it to the cover of the Beatles' "Help!" album, featuring all four members side by side with their arms also in different positions.
I mentioned the "Another Day" song in an earlier post from this morning, but I still think that's a pretty big stretch. I can't see this much hype around a Beatles announcement... unless it's just a part of a bigger content announcement.
Lol. Apple's ability to hype themselves is truly spectacular.
You can't even blame them. All they did was make a headline on their website, and the world loses it. It was one of the lead stories on CNN this morning.

It would be cool if there were special edition Beatles ipods/iphones released. Kind of like that U2 Ipod.

But I bought all of the remastered CDs last year. Silly Apple(s).
But the music industry has only survived this long by making you purchase the same content multiple times. So buy it again and don't ask any more questions, OK?

Why would anyone evan want to have the beatles in their library? I don't get it. In all certainty, the most overrated band in history, and it's not up for debate.

Who were the Beatles? Was it that one with the John Lennon guy?

You are right. It's not up for debate. They are the most popular and influential band in modern history.
What does "overrated" mean exactly? "Overrated" is such a useless term when it comes to music. The fact that their music has remained popular to this day is telling in itself. "Popular but I don't like it" does not equal "overrated".
I'm not a fan of their music. I could probably only name 5 or 6 songs in their entire catalog that I actually like. However I do understand the influence they had and still have. I can appreciate that they were a very talented and groundbreaking group, even though their music is not my style.
