Isn't that patent gone already? I thought that it was this September?

I was told that it is September 2013.

I like these, but having the same 7-8 flavors does get bland after awhile. Still, for a consistent cup of coffee that doesn't taste different in every cup, this is a good buy.

I love my Tassimo! I always buy the Carte Noir Signature and the Americano... Both discs make great cups of coffee. Superstore easily has the best prices so far and Im looking forward to trying the Tim Hortons discs in the near future.

Once my Tassimo craps out, Ill be off to the store to immediately replace it.

On top of switching to k-cups, Starbucks is doing their own thing now:

It was this past September and they have some more patents that expire in 2017.

Going to bump this to ask- has anybody found any discs that make an XL cup of coffee other than the Nabob breakfast blend? I am far from being a coffee snob- but the Nabob doesn't taste right.

I'm with you on this one. That coffee seems really acidic and gives me a stomach ache. I have been doing two of the second cup brand tdiscs to get a big mug full. Not exactly a cheap cup of coffee doing it this way. The second cup discs seem to be the closest thing to real coffee for the tassimo.

I was just down in Houston and looked at their tdisc selection. Either they don't carry anything special or Canada has caught up with the selection.

Im curious about these and I'm wondering if you are making a pot of coffee and having 2 or 3 cups is it economical to actually own one of these?

No, its not economical. I have a Tassimo and have for a few years, so I am not saying this as a shot against anyone else, but these are a waste of money, plain and simple. They do make a decent cup of coffee (although not big enough in general), but I went with the French Press a year ago and use it 9/10 times as compared to the Tassimo. It costs way less money, makes coffee that is delicious and really that's what matters to me. The Tassimo is faster, so if time is of the essence for you I can see point. Otherwise I have a hard time justifying the cost for a smaller coffee than what I would like anyway.

Yeah, I was trying to avoid using 2 discs. The other thing I was considering is buying some of the discs I see are "extra bold" and then using the add water function to top them up. My concern is that this is almost what the Nabob tastes like to me; that they took regular discs and then told the bar code to add more water.

miraisoup- the cost isn't a big part of the reason I own two of these. (One at work and one at home.) While it may be more cost effective when getting a single cup, the big thing is the convenience. I would never bother making a pot of coffee for just myself, but 1 disc at a time I will.

A Keurig is probably better if you're looking for an economical solution. You can get a Keurig "K-Cup", which is a single serving filter that you can fill with your own coffee. You're not forced to buy the pods, which are much more expensive per cup.

A small French press would be even more economical, but less convenient.

As the only coffee drinker in the house I like it. Not the cheapest but better than wasting a full pot of coffee. I hate making a half pot as it is just not the same. Coffee is quick easy and perfect for those 7am ice times my son has.

I'm the only coffee drinker in the house, my wife loves tea. We used a gift card at Walmart this week to get a Keurig and the filter. Love it.
