Some episodes it shows them going through the Biggest Loser book, recipes, diet strategies, etc. There was one season they had a challenge in which the teams had to create a dish with the lowest fat/calories/etc.

They try to promote the diet stuff through the books and dvds. It seems the show is for entertainment/product placement. They do seem to talk a bit about diet on most episodes though.

And as CaptainCrunch pointed out, who wants to watch fat people sitting around eating celery?

I've never quite understood this but here goes...

Sometimes when I'm on a diet I'll treat myself and buy a big bag of nachos and have 2 big plates of nachos and cheese usually for my dinner (2 nights in a row). On these weeks I usually lose at least 2 lbs. On weeks when I don't have nachos, I usually don't lose anything.

Define 'diet'? As pointed out by another poster your body can go into starvation mode which hangs on to fat. Are all the other variables equal with the exception of the nachos (calories, excercise, water intake, etc)? Also, 2 pounds is pretty irrelavent. I'll fluctuate up to 4 pounds depending on when I weigh myself. I wouldn't base that as an argument that you're only shedding weight when you eat nachos.

There used to be a website, saveyoursweat.com or something where the guy would undertake crazy diets to show that it was calorie count more than healthy food.

He went one month eating nothing but Chef Boyardee and he lost a lot of weight. He then went another month eating only Swanson Microwave Dinners.
