I'm going to call elaborate April Fools joke on this (it's been going on for a few days now). The ONLY reports have been directly from unsubstantiated sources on esksfans.com. And I bet Jed Roberts is in on it too.
Yup. The guys that are in on it are definitely legitimate sources, but this time they layed out a nice gag.

Ok, since I was unable to be near a computer at the time of the fessin up, I figure it would be best to let you all in on what a crazy two weeks it has been to try and pull one over on CFL fans and media. I'll put things in point form with no real order.

1. Jason Maas is fine. In fact if Jason lurks here, we'd all like to offer thanks for hopefully having a sense of humour about all this. This gag was in no way a reflection on you but we needed a starting point to make this believable.

2. No current member of the EE was directly involved other than a few unnamed people who helped pacify any ruffled feathers at EE head office. To those who may have been annoyed, we apologize.

3. This gag came about after a comment by me on how so many fans throughout the league just freak out at the mention of Flutie comming to the CFL. After some chatter all of a sudden we realized we had a golden opportunity on our hands and we decided to make

Right from esksfans.

Looks like the eskimos dont have flutie

MOD title edit for clarity.# [Why did you add the question marks....it's a done deal. Singor Mobley confirmed on esksfans that their is a press Conference on Tuesday]
Soooo Sundeep. Want to ask that question again? We add question marks around here until 'signings' such as this one are confirmed. This isn't a gossip forum. But thanks for asking.

Way to crack the story Sundeep. If Flutie comes back to the CFL it will be with the Ti Cats. What are the Esks gonna dow ith 3 QBs. And even WITH the aquisition the Esks would not be wayyyyyyyyyyyy better becuase you don't know how much in game shape Flutie is. He's been sitting on the bench in SD forever.
Next thing your gonna tell me is that the Esks signed Akili Smith....maybe Tim Couch.

The full explanation and series of events:

3. This gag came about after a comment by me on how so many fans throughout the league just freak out at the mention of Flutie comming to the CFL. After some chatter all of a sudden we realized we had a golden opportunity on our hands and we decided to make full use of it.

4. The broad scope of this prank encompassed 20 days, over 20 people scattered throughout Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, BC, and Arizona. Names have been changed to protect the guilty, you know who you are, you come forward at your own risk!

5. The gag was not intended for EE fans but rather fans in other cities. We knew we had to use you to get to them.

6. The gag made it to 7 football boards, 1 hockey board, and 1 media broadcast outlet. For those who say it was an obvious prank, we nailed more people than you could imagine. We also nailed 100x more people than we could have imagined!

7. The actual Flutie portion of the thread (refered to as "the bomb") was launched at a time when over half the world was past the international date line, therefore making it a legitimate april fools joke!

8. This was incredibly difficult to monitor and pull off successfully!! Many thanks to our named and unnamed co-horts for their efforts, sense of humour, and secrecy.

9. The most fun was seeing long time respected posters get pulled in hook line and sinker! Priceless....

10. The John Plachner story: I almost fell off my chair when someone dug up a fishing lure reference to the infamous John Plachner! Honnestly I had zero idea that such a reference existed! John Plachner was a real person who farmed nearby where I grew up. He was kind of a strange loner type who talked to himself, drank a lot, and built incredible bicycle contraptions because he lost his licence. He passed away over 25 years ago with no family. I knew he was untraceable. I wish I could take credit for the ingenious fishing lure reference but the creature had spawned something of it's own by then. BTW, The San Diego Tribune-Union does exist as The San Diego Union-Tribune.

11. Thanks to our friends at the Arizona Athletic Exellence Center, "Vic Romano" and Tony Clifton, (who are real BTW) for being wonderfull spin doctors.

12. Personal thanks to Fish, TT, Angelus, FF, Jed, Gizfan2, E4E, and all the others who know who they are.

13. Apologies to Jason Gregor at the Team1260's Just a Game radio show as he apparently got sent a copy and had to deal with it on air for about 45 min. Wish I could have heard it. Mad Props to whoever sent it to him tho!

14. To any of those who are still miffed at us....... LIGHTEN UP!!

Read my post on Esksfans.

"Of course I'm hoping that all these rumours about Maas being hurt are false. I'd rather have a healthy Maas than Flutie.....better for the long term."

I mean, I was disappointed Maas was supposedly hurt, and we supposedly got Flutie. That said, who wouldn't be thrilled to sign the best QB in the league?

Ah well, Eskimos still are gonna romp all over the Stamps

In other news, the NHL and Players Association have just agreed on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement...

Seriously though, I thought he was destined for Hamilton??? What happened with that?

I really, really hate to say it, but he has a point - the team's made the playoffs for the past 33 years. That's pretty unbelievable.

Well its not that hard since 6 of the 9 teams make it in every year. Besides the Oilers still suck so that makes everything better and without Ricky Ray the Esks will probably never win the grey cup with Maas.

Leave it to Sundeep to fall for something so lame.

Just proves that burgeoning young CAs are not as swift as they think they are.

c'mon now! Bugeoning young CA's from EDMON....actually, I won't go there.

But Bertuzzied, Edmonton's feat sure is tough to do. Every team goes through its cycles of missing the playoffs...BC, Winnipeg, Calgary, Saskatchewan, Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa have all gone through that in the past 5-7 years. So yea, I'd say it's pretty hard to make it 33 years running.
