This looks to me like Sky Captain times ten.

Times ten in scope/cast, times ten in flop-factor.

Something about these comic-book style movies is too cartoony for me.# They even try to 'frame' the scenes in a comic-book fashion.

I think anytime this many stars get loaded into a movie, its doomed.# The only thing missing is Samuel L...

Well at least you're keeping an open mind about it....

And what... thinking it will be good before seeing it is 'open minded', and thinking it will be bad is 'closed minded'? I don't see how. I just anticipate a different level of quality than you do. I think you're confusing 'open-mindedness' with 'optimistic'.

No, I'm not optimistic about this movie. I wasn't optimistic about Constantine either, but I went and saw it, because I have an open mind, and I liked it.

When you generalize all comic book movies like you did, that is being close-minded. Then again, I thought Spider-Man 2 would be good, so what the hell do I know?
Well, I suppose I could qualify what I said.

Spiderman 1 and 2, X-Men 1 and 2 were pretty quality flicks, but they were a lot more traditional 'action' movies.

Stuff like Sky Captain, The Hulk, Daredevil seemed a lot more committed to their comic origins, which had different scene cuts and ways to tell the story. Its hard to explain, I could just 'feel' the comic'iness in them, something that wasn't evident in the Spiderman/X-Men movies. [/b][/quote]
You should read Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and That Yellow bas**rd, as well as Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. All written and drawn by Frank Miller. I promise, you will never look at comics the same way again. If you like those, then I'd try The Watchmen as well.

I understand your point more now, but Daredevil and the Hulk were just god awful movies to begin with. I say give Sin City a chance, I think it'll be spectacular, but as i stated before, I have been very wrong in the past.

I saw Sin City last night, I personally didn't come away from it thinking that it was extremely violent (thought in hindsight it was) mostly because the film is so highly stylized.
