Stay away from Tao (Venetian). Overrated big time and other than the decor, is nothing special.

If you want something uber-romantic go to the Eiffel tower restaurant at Paris. 50ft up overlooking the Bellagio water show. Amazing ! The tasting menu is like 7 courses and huge portions, so bring your big pants.

The Cafe at Paris was so good we didn't go anywhere else.
Nice view of the fountains, the cool mist in the air, and a friendly bartender from New York with hilarious stories about driving around Vancouver Island.

Craftsteak in MGM Grand is amazing and is one of Tom Colichio's places. I also enjoyed the restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere Tower. After dinner you can go to the lounge half a floor up and drink the night away with the best view on the strip. There is a lounge band there that's decent.

The Grotto in the Golden Nugget blew my mind.
So reasonably priced and so good. Outstanding service too.

Or you could just get a pastrami on rye and a matzah ball soup at the little deli next to the poker room.
Unlike some, I think all the restaurants on the strip have a lot in common with the Chop House/Belgo/Zen 8 chain here - mediocre and overpriced. You really have to look hard to find hidden gems. For instance, Thai Village half-a-block past the Stratosphere. Now, your head needs to be on a swivel in that area after dark, but a great place for lunch or early dinner.

I forgot about Greenberg's Dehli, in NYNY. Come to think of it, I like a lot of the restaurants at NYNY.

The pizza place in NYNY, cheap and delicious... Just stay away from the Hard Rock Cafe... horrible food IMO... The Peppermill was pretty cool for all day breakfast, found the food average though
