We're not here to talk nonsense with Bob Loblaw.

Build up a collection of a few posts before you actually start publishing posts. A couple weeks would be minimum. Unless, of course, your blog only contains timely information (deals, sales, etc.).

Many blogs fail because the author launches the site with a couple posts that really interest them and then stall. Also, don't think that every post has to be Shakespeare. One well constructed and thought out paragraph is just as good as 2000 words of rambling.

I want to start a blog about video games, the industry, reviews, my opinions, etc. but with school and homework, work, actually playing games, playing guitar, I am just too busy to do it.

I'd love to start one, but after getting one up, another thing I would have an issue with is finding people to read it and get a following.

Just writing this post makes me really want to start one.

My theory is at first you shouldn't care if anyone reads it.
If you're writing about something you like, it could be a great experience anyway.
Getting followers will just be icing on the cake, but do it for yourself first and foremost and you'll know you have the passion to keep it going.

I'm looking at starting a blog on my hometown hockey team. Which one is better WordPress or Blogger? Or Is there something better out there?

For straight blogging Wordpress is excellent.

I was the same. I think it's fantastic if you're self-hosted...but if you're using a subdomain (xxx.blogspot.com or xxx.wordpress.com) then Blogger's the way to go IMO.

I highly recommend Squarespace; it's not cheap but it's got lots of bells and whistles.

I agree. I use and prefer blogger. It's very user friendly and it's free. If you want your own domain, you can use the code FALL99 and buy a domain name at godaddy right now for only $0.99. If you're somewhat interested in becoming a blogger. You NEED your own domain name.

Wow that's a good price. I couldn't find where to put in the code though. Maybe I'm blind?

WordPress is easily my choice in blogging tools. It's the one I recommend to clients... WordPress is really good if you're going to host it on your own servers. But of all the CMS/Blogging tools to use to start a blog WordPress is the easiest.

(I'm probably late to the game) But If you're just getting started with blogging and want to try it out, try setting up a tumblr or posterous blog. They take like 5 minutes to set-up and have some classy themes.

Then if you gain some transaction, make the switch to a full on hosted WordPress blog. (my one piece of advice is to never, never, never, ever purchase a domain through Blogger or Tumblr and then decided to switch over to a self hosted WordPress blog... It's a disastrous endeavor)

And finally, I hope you enjoy blogging as much as I have. I've been running my own personal blog for over 4 years now and also my corporate blog and also an iphone apps blog (http://www.yycapps.com).

Blogging is probably one of the best things I've ever decided to do.

That's it! Somebody was asking me about Calgary tech hashtags on Twitter last night. Couldn't remember the name for the life of me.

You enter the code on the last screen of the checkout right before you.

It's been about a week since I posted the code, so it might not work anymore. Give it a try and let us know.

I just tried the code and it no longer works.

You enter the code on the Review Your Shopping Cart page. There's a Enter Promo or Source Code link on top of the Continue to Checkout Button on the right-hand side of the page.Enter Promo or Source Code

Visit this page for the latest godaddy codes: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-...07/?start=1260
