lol. I can't believe I'm saying it Jesse, but the officiating wasn't that bad. Bonnett was, but he's always terrible. The three PPGs were all on deserved penalties.

Frustrating loss, but a lot of reasons for optimism. The Hitmen made the Hurricanes look like a mediocre AJHL team for the first half of the game, but that was a young team that relaxed at the wrong time after the 2-0 goal and one of Lethbridge's rare periods of pressure led to a hard working penalty call. First adversity Calgary faced all night, and it led to two dumb penalties and a tie game. Bonnett's goaltender interference call was a joke, but he also missed an obvious Calgary trip in the last minute.

A lotta nerves, a lot of rookies flubbing shots and passes. But a lot of reasons for optimism. There is some talent there, and between the kids getting their feet wet, and our two big guns returning from NHL camps, this Hitmen team might well surprise a few people. I love that the US road trip is so early too... great chance for them to gel as a group.

Oh ! I original meant to say the new WHL website sucks major butt since nothing seems to load on there. I should reread my post from now on before I post something.

Thankfully! It should really help things out for the team.

Misha Fisenko is back with the Hitmen. That now leaves them with five overages. Kyle Aschim, Tyler Fiddler, Misha Fisenko, Kris Foucault and Zak Stebner. I think keeping Kris Foucault is a given. So which other two does Kisio keep?

I gotta think they keep Stebner and Fiddler. The team is a lot better with those 2 players in the line up.

Fiddler is a definite keeper - they need his offence. Aschim I think will be gone, and I'm not sure which of the other two I'd prefer to keep.

I think Stebner is the one to go. They are really short on talent up front and even without Stebner are relatively deep on the blue line.

Had my first chance to see the Rebels this season in a 4-2 win over the Ice. Apparently according to the coach and other fans they weren't at their best in the win. Well, they more than handled the Ice completely dominating at times.

RNH is simply phenomenal now. Talk of him being a potential No.1 draft pick are justified. He handles and dangles with the puck better than anyone I've seen at this level.

However the team is solid past him too. Three good lines, solid D and goaltending. Early days but for the first time in a long time there is real hope for a decent season in Red Deer. Hey just having the chance of finally beating the flippin' Hitmen would make me happy!

He still needs to lose one of his last names.

He's flying up the rankings too. ISS had him ranked 5th or 6th in the spring. Their latest rankings have RNH as the 2nd best prospect in the world behind Sean Courtier. David Musil of Vancouver is 4th and Duncan Siemens of Saskatoon is 11th.

Speaking of the Rebels, it amazes me we don't face you guys until late November. I liked finally playing someone else for the season opener, but that's a long time to wait to renew the rivalry.

Took in my first Hitmen game of the year. Definately noticed a decrease in overall team skill, but the the team still looks well coached. Six different players each getting their first goal of the year. Looking forward to seeing some more games!

On the RNH front, we are featuring him in our first video profile once our new website goes live. Great kid, and not tired of the hype yet.

Wheat King update for those interested:

-2009/2010 starter and overage goalie Jacob De Serres has cleared WHL waivers and signed with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Q.

-Overage defenceman Mark Schneider has been sent to Regina for an 18 year old project (Dominic Favreau). Brandon is now set with their three 20 year olds for the season- F Shayne Wiebe, F David Toews & D Darren Bestland.

-Injury update: the WK's have been hit hard by injuries so far. Toews is out 5-7 weeks with an ankle, '93 defenceman Jordan Fransoo is out indefinitely after breaking his foot and Michael Ferland went under the knife for the knee injury he suffered at Flames camp and will miss significant time.

-With Andrew Hayes/Jacob De Serres gone, the battle to backup '93 Liam Liston is down to '93 Corbin Boes & '92 Ty Rimmer. Rimmer has an inside track but all three have played exceptionally well so far.

-The D is extremely young in Brandon this year. 20 yr old Bestland, '91 Brodie Melnychuk & '92 Ryley Miller are the only returnees from last year. '93 Jordan Fransoo comes very highly touted after hitting a growth spurt and developing into a 6'2, 190 rearguard with extremely good skating ability. He should develop into a very good player in the years to come. With Schneider now gone, a couple '94's (Ryan Pulock and Eric Roy) will fill in on the third pairing while a '93 (Rene Hunter) will replace Fransoo on the second pairing. Pulock, Roy & Hunter have looked surprisingly steady despite rotating in and out of the lineup. The D as a whole is certainly not going to be a flashy group this year. With such a young group there are sure to be a few bad nights but the future on the back end looks extremely bright.

-Glennie has not impressed me since Dallas sent him back. He's a -4 in 6 games with only 1 goal. I'm sure he'll get it together but it's disheartening to see him not producing given his huge struggles down the stretch last season.

-LW Hampus Gustaffson was just acquired from Regina for a pick, he'll slot in on the second line and hopefully replace some of the offence missing due to the Toews/Ferland injuries. He looks like Mose Schrute.

- '92's Brenden Walker and Wheaton King (the kid was clearly born to play for Brandon) have been the only guys producing alongside Mark Stone during the current four game losing streak. King has been a really nice surprise so far.

-Mark Stone has been dominant as his stats appear. If Brandon can get Schenn back, those two will put up a ridiculous amount of points together this year.

Sorry for the long post, I'm sure alot of people aren't interested in hearing about Brandon but I know there's a handful of members who like to know as much as possible about all the teams, hopefully this helps.
