That's a pretty ridiculous argument. It's the sponsored pro-am that pays the bills Phil.
If there were no pro-ams golfers would be making peanuts instead of the million dollar purses today. The reason the rule was put in in the first place was because golfers kept skipping their appointments.

I'm going to derail this a little bit... let's have a fun guessing contest..
We know the European team and 8 of the American team.
If you were Corey Pavin, who would be the 4 American wildcards that you select tonight.
The 8 Americans are
Mickleson
Mahan
Bubba
Furyk
Stricker
D. Johnson
Overton
Kucher
So do you go with experience or the hot hand?
I would take:
Tiger Woods
Anthony Kim
Zach Johnson
Stewart Cink

Matt Kuchar with aother strong showing in the first round of the BMW. This guy could easily win player of the year.
He's -6 through 15, in a tie for the lead.
Edit: Hits a 7 foot birdie putt on 7 and he's now at -7, in sole posession of the lead.
Ryan Moore shot a 29 on the back 9, in the clubhouse with a 65.
Dustin Johnson playing good golf, and Tiger about to tee off in about an hour.

I was joking, it was an 'in the moment thing' since he was tearing up the final round.
You had to be there.

I remember when Kuchar was considered a bust on tour... it would be nice to see him win the whole Fedex Cup...

I'm not sure he can be considered a bust. It takes time to win on tour. Tiger and Phil spoiled us by winning immediately and the media expects everyone to win right away like they did. Everyone else doesn't win until their 30s so I think guys who had good amateur careers like Kuchar, Justin Rose, Hunter Mahan, Bubba Watson, Ricky Barnes, are right on schedule (late-20s, early-30s)

Tiger off to a bit of a rough start with a double on 1 and bogey on 6.
He needs to get into approximately the top-5 this week to advance to the Tour Championship.
Kuchar in with a 64 in sole posession of the lead.

Kuchar is unreal right now. It's nice to see his attitude on the course, he never stops smiling. Hope he does well in the Ryder Cup.

Mickelson paired with Woods tomorrow. Wet dream for NBC. Too bad their round will be half over by the time coverage begins.

Thank goodness their round will be half over. It's ridiculous that they still get coverage.
There are more than 10 guys within 4 shots of the lead. We'll miss a bunch of their shot tomorrow This is a big deal, playing this week for the right to play for 10 million dollars!

Really happy to see Dustin win it. He's become my favorite golfer this year with his trials and tribulations and still managing to be in the hunt in almost every tournament.
