Does Global Fest keep track of attendance numbers? Does anyone know them?

Ive been going every single year since it's inception, and tonight had to be the largest attended night I've seen. It was crazy packed.

It was definitely the busiest I've ever seen it by far. Usually you can easily find parking in the nearby communities and walk across the train tracks. This year it was quite a hike. I've also never seen the far end of the hill filled up the way it was. Were they giving away free tickets this year or something? Or maybe just getting more popular each year.

I thought GlobalFest has sold out on occasion; that would be the maximum attendance.

I saw Tuesday and Thursday's shows (Italy 'won' that, for sure). Both were well worth going to. I have a friend who's volunteered there for 6 years in a row now, and she says that Saturday was the busiest she can ever remember seeing it, too. Anecdotal, I know, but still.

The attendance this year ranged anywhere from 17000 - 22000, with 22000 being the finale, yesterday.

That's all, really?

I'd have guessed there were over 30,000 just on the West hill.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I really have no idea what Globalfest is besides an international pyrotechnics extravaganza!!! My question is why would i pay to go to this event when I could surely park my car on 52 street and 20th avenue and watch the prairie sky illuminate with the colourful controlled explosions?? Seriously why do you pay and what is inside the park?

Im from Calgary and this is the first time I ever went to globalfest. I didnt really expect much, but DEFINITELY worth it. The fireworks themselves are worth the price of the ticket. Super cool atmosphere. There are some pretty cool booths that promote different countries and cultures you can also check out. Great food options as well. For 15 bucks not a bad night out. The only thing that sucks is parking. Definitely bring an extra $10 to $20 bucks to park. I parked at Rona. Didnt feel as bad as it was for charity.

In short to summarize The fireworks go with the music that's being played and its a competition between countries that's why people pay to get in...also tons of activities and foods to see/try..

You could, but you'd miss the low stuff, miss the reflection in the lake, and you might not be able to hear the music that the shows are designed around.
