Too bad to see Kouleas go he was one of the few media guys that I liked. I agree that he does seem like a more natural fit for radio as someone mentioned.
If they are getting rid of Cabbie's producer why not do the right thing and get rid of that loser as well. He wasn't funny to begin with and is now even worse that he thinks he is some sort of star.

Doesn't ESPN own like 30% of TSN?

I hate Cabbie. I find him loud and obnoxious.

Quite simply they just haven't made themselves attractive to a 2010 market. They look like something that would have existed 10 to 15 years ago.
And yes, their production quality/on air sets look something like a high school news channel would put out. Very pathetic effort, even on a limited budget.

And despite this, if they were to revert back to their old format of highlights and stats only, they may increase viewership. I loved Headline Sports back in the day. Yeah, you can go online or on your phone and watch tiny screens to get some idea of what happened. But there is nothing like a half hour or hour long package of just sports highlights and statistics, without the needless commentary between hosts. And if you miss the highlights of a game, you know you're getting it again in less than an hour. You can get this all on the internet, but for me, there's nothing like sitting back and letting it all happen in front of me without doing anything.

Actually, they have five different WWE shows on, each on a different night, all in prime-time. Not to mention MMA and other fighting shows.
Good if you are are a fan of that stuff, but certainly detracts from the channel's roots as a highight aggregator.

The Score has great basketball coverage and I actually prefer their constant stat-line. The wrestling and horse racing at the most inopportune times is a huge pain, though.

ESPN is better than TSN? Ha.. laughable.
Go to the US and watch Sportscenter. It's a mickey-mouse production and TSN's beautiful new set and anchors put it to shame.

Too bad their Sportscenter set looks like it was designed by an 8 year old.

I've liked The Score's coverage of March Madness, I thought they did a much better job then Sportsnet did. I really enjoyed Drive This and Covers experts when it was on. I know a ton of people couldn't handle Morency, but as a sports gambler it was nice to have such an open forum, and Morency knows his sports. They also have covered College Hoops better then any other network in Canada, and a lot of there hosts seem to actually have a knowledge of sports extending outside of hockey.
What they don't have, is any constancy what so ever. You don't know when highlights are going to be on, whether it be night or day. They do a brutal job of advertising there shows, talent and sporting events on the network On busy sports nights, with a lot going on, having hours of horse racing coverage sure doesn't help. I really liked Cabbie when he got started, but eventually enough is enough of the same damn routine every time.
And most of all...they never brought back Deb Matichka to cover the Flames!!!!

The set is important? ESPN has all the money, reporters, shows, 24 hour news, radio, podcasts, international etc...

Anyone remember when The Score was "Sportscope"? It was just a lime green background with rolling scores and news, set to 50's and 60's rock and roll.
BTW, anyone know when I can get my Blue Jays back?

That was how I got my Flames updates back in the day, living in Winnipeg!
I still remember the horrors of the team blowing a 4-1 third period lead against Dallas. Every time the Flames game came up in the rotation Dallas would have another goal.

It will be very interesting to see where Kouleas goes. I think he's more suited to radio than tv cause on radio he can interview other experts and have long segment to engage the fan.

The Score hasn't been the same since Martine Gaillard left for Sportsnet.
