The First Amendment DOES NOT extend to private enterprise. If you're a face (or in this case, a voice) and you say something offensive, and your employer has a problem, you better believe that they have every right to dismiss you to save face.
She is mistakenly making this out to be a First Amendment issue, but no court will buy that and no self-respecting lawyer would take that case.

Wait, what? Dr. Laura? Wrong?? Unpossible!!

FYP.
Lets not forget that tax and spend doesn't work any different than cut taxes and spend.
The Democrats have had the last 2 years to do something and all they can manage is to make the Republicans look like the more appealing choice to a lot of Americans.
If that isn't sad, I don't know what is.

Wouldn't be surprised if Canadians too were around that mark. There are a lot of stupid people out there no matter where you live....a couple weeks ago I ran into someone who had no idea there was an oil spill in the Gulf.
As for the topic at hand, I hate Dr. Laura, but I think we should all be allowed to used whatever word we want if the context is appropriate. No special cases and no special rules.

I know you're not talking about me, but be careful not to confuse ignorance with stupidity.
I don't watch the news; I had no idea about the Gulf Oil Spill until 5 days after it made headlines. I'm ignorant, not stupid.

Not knowing for 5 days - Perhaps ignorant, but I can see that happening.
Not knowing after 4 months - That's just stupid.

True, although one could consider being misinformed a trait of stupidity. The people who tend "not have time to watch/read the news" are often the same people who inexplicably know what body part Heidi Montag is changing this week, or what Brangelina ate for breakfast. I guess it's about priorities.
Btw, I'm not sure you had to read the news to know about the oil spill. It's only been the biggest topic of the year....unless you're living a Kaczynski, it tends to come up in conversation.

Before somebody bites my head off, there are a few exceptions to this rule, particularly in cases of conspiracy to commit criminal acts. I acknowledge that. But the basis and my point remain the same.
The First Amendment DOES NOT extend to private enterprise. If you're a face (or in this case, a voice) of a company and you say something offensive, and your employer has a problem, you better believe that they have every right to dismiss you as a means of damage control.

Hmmm...I don't think that is right. If the internet has taught me anything it's that the First Amendment is the right to say anything you want and everyone has to listen and agree.

What's scary is that Sarah Palin still has an audience in America that listen to her and take her seriously. People that read those idiotic tweets, and take them seriously, believing in what she's saying.

She seems to be losing her mojo:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/0..._n_684053.html
A new nationwide survey of Republican voters finds that support for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to win the GOP's 2012 presidential nomination has fallen by one-third since March, sliding from 18 points to 12 points. Palin is now running in fourth place for the nomination behind former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

She was seriously done as a credible candidate right after her rambling, insanity filled resignation speech that had network political analysts stunned into open mouthed looks of shock.

Romney will be the new guy and good thing too. Probably the best shot the Republicans have at the Whitehouse currently.

Romney will have to twist into pretzels to please the base, but in the end he is exactly what US needs - a NE/Rockefeller Republican (I think - I have to admit to have only cursory knowledge of him at this point)...

Doesn't Romney have the whole "being a morman" issue with the republican base?

Yep, and also that he is not very right-wing, having managed to be elected Governor in socialist Massachusetts.
