Food isn't really an issue. There is a midnight lunch, well actually 1130, at the reception so we won't be particularly hungry.

Belgo is good

Raw bar is nice but kind of trendy and small (think $$$)

Can't really comment on crush or west

Hey folks, just thought I'd update on what I found and how it all worked out so far.

West is amazing. No rooftop patio, their website says its open and it isn't, but other than that the place looks really nice. However, they wouldn't hold a table for me and wouldn't guarantee that the members of my party that are under 25 would get in. When I asked the event coordinator to make an exception for us she said the door guys run the show and there was nothing she would do... Total BS. But if they don't want my business I won't go there. So I'm not. That place looks crazy cool though. Definitely the place to be on a Fri/Sat night for the 25+ crowd.

Belgo. Talked to the manager Josh and he was a really cool guy. Gave us advice on places that might be more suited than Belgo. More of a food and lounge experience than a place to keep partying after a wedding.

Crush is ok but I don't like its location so I ruled it out pretty quickly.

Ended up settling on the Met on 8th. They were very courteous and accommodated all of our needs, including letting us show up at midnight even though they don't usually honor the guest list past 11pm and got us a table for 12. I even specified I didn't want the private room because it isn't very cool and the manager I talked to obliged and said she'd email me with the location she picks so I can approve of her selection. I was thoroughly impressed with the staff at Met willing to accommodate our needs. Not as cool as West but not as pretentious and douchy.

Didn't even check out Raw.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll update after Labour Day and let y'all know how things worked out.

Wine Bar Kensington

http://winebarkensington.com/

It is not as expensive as you might think, and it is super nice.

What about 1410 on 17th? The food's pretty good, and the number of beers is amazing. Also, the atmosphere is nice as well. A lot more casual than Raw Bar, though. It depends what you're looking for.

Edit: Whoops, did not read your last post.

I would have recommended the Jupiter.. a highly underrated place in Kensington. Very quaint spot. However I think DJ La Merde is still playing there on Saturdays.. but they are very open to hosting private / semi-private functions.

The Kensington Riverside Inn. It's beautiful inside. It's hard to imagine this place in downtown Calgary.

My wife's company had a Christmas Party there and put us up in the hotel. It's superb.

Thanks guys but I already reserved at the Met. I appreciate the suggestions though. I'm only really updating the thread so that future posters can see my early reviews and just in case anyone needed to know that CP is, as usual, extremely helpful.

I would second this.
Another place you could try may be Club Paradiso, although it is a little more out of the way, being in Inglewood.
