Hair is overrated. I was once worried about it as I had long hair at one point. Cut it short or shave it off, no big deal.

Buzz it short or shave it off - save yourself the money and stress. Just deal with the fact God hates you and move on.

I've been rocking the Jason Statham for a while now - you just have to be cool with you.

sorry guys - i'm not sure which drug it is

...and as for where the hair growth happened - i think primarily just his head... he's not a walking 'man-rug!' ha! ha!

I've been thinning out on the back of my head since my late teens. I've thought about shaving my head a couple times but I dont it suits me.

I want to go see a hair doctor about treatments but probably wont until I move to Calgary or somewhere else where a hair clinic is.

Own it. It's all about confidence. To be honest, I've always lost a little respect for a guy who I've found out is spending a ton on hair restoration products. Comes off as insecure.

Once you hit thirty-five, half your buddies will have some sort of hair-loss anyways. Doesn't even faze people anymore.

he's been taking this stuff for a few years now and it worked - he's got a nice thick full head of hair again! he'll have to keep taking this drug, otherwise he'll start to thin again, but he doesn't care... and i bet his chances of prostate cancer are pretty low too!
It's called Proscar, which is essentially a cheaper way of getting Propecia. Absolutely 100% works for slowing(sometimes even reversing) hair loss. It also murders your libido. I took it for awhile, and it worked upstairs, while causing some concerning probs downstairs. I got off it immediately, and I'm glad I did, as I read if you're on it long enough it can cause permanent damage to your ol' little buddy.

Just shave it dude. Michael Jordan did us all a favour by making shaved heads cool(or at least acceptable). Take advantage. I've fought the good fight all through my 20's, and now as I'm closing in on 30 its finally starting to open up a bit in the back, I'm totally shavin er once that happens. I'll actually be relieved to finally have the battle over with.

I would be very hesitant about using any general (as opposed to local) drug that interferes with your natural hormone levels. Side effects also include breast development.

It more or less sounds like this drug turns you into a woman.

Do men really ever "lose" their hair? It pretty much just slides down to the back and chest.

I'm 25... and I haven't lost a single hair on the top of my head. I've got hair in the normal spots, but:

Ask me to grow a beard and I'll show you 3 whiskers. I wish they made a rogaine for the face.

Started losing hair back in university and slowly continuing on.

Found out I lost it due to stress, saw an acupuncturist and relieve some of the stress and it's now growing back a bit.

So I guess mine wasn't genetic as none of the males in family have hair loss.

My father is bald, my brother is bald, I'm bald.... so I guess mine was genetic.

I got sick and tired of being half bald. Going one way was $12,000 and no guarantee of success. The other way was $20 and guaranteed success.

Have been taking Propecia for a year now and it's worked like a charm. I get next to no hair loss in the shower anymore, and my hair grows faster, thicker, and more lush now.

Let me make something clear - it doesn't really put much hair back on your head (although a few have grown), but it does make your existing hair grow strong again.

I won't stop taking it for the rest of my life. I started to recede, but I stopped it dead in its tracks.

BTW, I've written an article on baldness treatments, which has been featured on Ask Men, Yahoo and Fox. We can look forward to some significant advancements in a few years.

One of the best and funniest song by The Darkness:

"Bald"

It would appear that male pattern
baldness has set in
his hair, at an alarming pace
running away from his face
he's losing his virility
and now his masculinity
has been compromised
and his libido down-sized

Not for me, not for me, not for me, uh-uh
not for me, not for me, heaven forbid
it's not for me you understand

Bald, slap headed and hairless
bald he is destined to be
bald, well tonight thank God it's him instead of me.

From what I have been reading
his scalp needs kneading
to stimulate each follicle
and reverse this diabolical
condition that's afflicted he
for years and has cruelly
repulsed each potential mate
and left him with a balding pate

Not for me, not for me, not for me, uh-uh
not for me, not for me, heaven forbid
it's not for me you understand

Bald, slap headed and hairless
bald he is destined to be
bald, well tonight thank God it's him instead of me.

Sock it to me baby, yeah!

Not for me, not for me, not for me, uh-uh
not for me, not for me, heaven forbid
it's not for me you understand

Not for me, not for me, not for me, uh-uh
not for me, not for me, heaven forbid
it's not for me you understand

Bald, slap headed and hairless
bald he is destined to be
bald, well tonight thank God it's him instead of me.
Thank God!

Bald, slap headed and hairless
bald he is destined to be
bald, well tonight thank God it's him instead of me.
How?

I am surprised there hasnt been a cure for hair loss yet.

I noticed my hair started falling out when I was 17.
I have managed to hang onto it by using propecia / proscar off and on for 5 years.

But knowing what I know now about the drug, I have decided to stop using it.

I am at the Jason Statham phase of hair loss.

I would recommend the following to help keep what you have:

Buy Nizoral shampoo and use it once a week.
It is an anti-dandruff shampoo, but it has been known to clear up blocked hair follicles (DHT build up).

Buy Nioxin shampoo and conditioner and use it atleast once a day.
I buy the number 2 version of this shampoo for noticebly thinning hair.

Buy Minoxidil (rogaine) in generic form so it isnt so expensive.
Costco has this stuff for real cheap.

Use this topical formula daily.

I looked up studies on finasteride, and supposedly only about 1% experience side effects when controls are put in place. This would indicate that much of the reported side effects are psychological, and of course there's always the fact that negative experiences tend to be overrepresented...take this board for example during the season.

My stepdad uses Nioxin shampoo/conditioner (recommended by my hairdresser) and it basically makes the hair that you do have fluff out and appear like there's more, even though there's not. My mom, sister and I all prefer how his hair looks now than when he buzzed it.
