Since the August long weekend isn't actually a stat holiday in Alberta, not everyone gets it off (though I think most employers these days give people the day off anyhow), so I imagine some people won't be going to Kelowna.
Ok so I have never heard of this Kelowna august long party before.. I might have to make plans to check it out next year.
This year, like any other year, baseing out of a buddies cabin a few hours north then hitting a different lake each day to pull in the fish.. we usually just drive in a direction and pick a random lake. I plan to hitem all before I die.. or as many as I can anyway I've got about 98,875 to go out of 99,000.

Going to Kelowna and Harrison! All of you please don't take the Trans Canada on the same day as me, I'd like to be able to do even just a little over the damn speed limit for once.
Flying to Madrid Spain.....First Calgary to TO to Munich then to Madrid....it'll be worth it once i'm there, but i may want to poke my eyeballs out with a fork along the way.

Construction is the worst between sunshine and Lake Louise and also just as you enter Golden. Try and beat the usual traffic in these spots or you could be tacking an hour or more on to your trip

Luckily I'm heading up Tuesday night, so I'll avoid the traffic for the most part.
In my experience, the choices coming home are leaving Kelowna at 6am or 11am. I find those to be where there are gaps in the rushes of long weekend traffic. Most people seem to go between 7 and 10 (those people get to Golden just in time for lunch).
