One of the best shows ever made. Strangely though, no matter how much I rave about it, I can't seem to get my friends into watching it. So sad.

Hell of it is, why couldn't they continue? They already had the town built for the most part, so its not like the set cost so much.

Unlike Rome, where they had to constantly skip scenes and years to keep up with the story, Deadwood could have gone on, IMO.

Still one of the best shows I've ever seen.

David Milch wanted to make his stupid Jesus as a surfer show, John from Cincinnati, and didn't have the time to dedicate to doing both shows.

I really hope that's not the real reason. That is so bad if true.

Deadwood sat upon my 'favorite drama of all time seat' until I watched the first season of Game of Thrones. But I still haven't seen the whole of the Wire.

Watched the whole series earlier this year after putting it off so long. Can't believe I didn't watch it sooner.

It is easily the best TV series I have ever watched. It pisses me off to no end to only have 3 seasons, even if the third season finale was the most anti-climactic episode out of any series.

Unfortunately, that's exactly the reason. He even used a lot of the supporting cast from Deadwood on JfC.

Just started watching this show, through the first 7 episodes. Absolutely fantastic show, one of the best series I've ever watched. The setting, actors, dialogue...everything. HBO knocks something out of the park, as usual. McShane's incredible in it.

The only thing that I hate is knowing its gonna end upruptly and I'll be completely unsatisfied. I can't even pretend to hold out hope for it re-starting someday (as I'm sure most did at the time, like most series that end before their time) because it wrapped up 5 years ago already.

I'd love to know why it was even cancelled in the first place, I hear the ratings were actually pretty solid by the end of season 2. Such a shame.

I think it was quite expensive to produce - that could have been a factor.

Rome was the same way.

The extras for the final episode has the producer talking and there is a bit of resentment there; mentioning some of the story lines that would have carried on had they been allowed to continue.

Just watched all three seasons and I quite enjoyed it. And as a Kristen Bell fan, her story arc was quite good including it's ending.

As for the ending itself, that does suck. I made sure not to read anything before I watched it, and I popped in the last disc hoping for an ending and got DVD supplements instead

The Wikipedia page also noted how there were actor contracts that were expiring after the 3rd season, I would think that would have played a large part in cancelling it.

I gotta get back into these, just cracked out on season 1 last month but I've been really busy & haven't been able to watch since. Just picked up seasons 2 and 3 at Blockbuster for a combined $10, time to plug em back in I think.

I just HATE knowing the end's going to suck, as after 1 season this could arguably be my favourite dramatic series of all time.

Watching for a second time. 4th episode in. God what a fracking fantastic show. Most TV shows need a few to get going for the actors and the technical crew (See 1st season episode 1-2 of Spartacus for a perfect example.) This masterpiece is perfect from the start.
