If your dates are fixed, using hotwire and priceline will definitely save you some money. PL usually gets you better deals, but there's more time/work in terms of bidding. HW will give you a price before you accept, but they are usually higher than what you could get by bidding on PL.
You can do research here: http://www.betterbidding.com/

If you like the rawk, the Experience Music project is cool. If you're a sci-fi nerd, the Science Fiction museum is in the same building. And if you're an architecture nerd, you can complete the trifecta and tuck your boner under your belt because the building was designed by Frank Gehry. It is all located right near the Space Needle.

Good enough inside, great location where you can walk to everything and free parking if you're brining your car. Did the trick just fine for a good price.

I'll be at Bumbershoot one day this year, wrapping it around a conference in Vancouver and a half-marathon (hopefully, if the hairline fracture in my lower left tibia heals in time) in Oregon.
Was at Bumbershoot a quarter-century ago . . . . . awesome then and have some awesome pictures showing some awesome early 1980's fashions and haircuts and awesomeness rocking out.

We had stayed with some friends in Gig Harbour many moons ago. On our way out to catch a ferry to Seattle, we passed by some navy carriers in port. It was really cool, as I hadn't seen one so close before. (can't remember now if it was a carrier, but pretty sure. there was definitely a bunch of ships there.)
NOt sure if that's your bag, but I think there are some cool military things around there to look at.

I will second the Silver Cloud plus the brew pub across the street (pyramids) is pretty good.

Quick bus ride on the bus (same street as the hotel for the bus route) will take you to Pike's place. There's a Star Bucks at the hotel too, but I recommend Pike's Place for coffee. And, if you're renting a car, they have parking which I think was pretty reasonable as well. Some good restaurant in the area too.
Edit: Forgot to add that you can access the roof of the hotel anytime and there are some amazing views up there. We sat up there at night time after coming home and just enjoyed watching the city. They have chairs and loungers up there to sit in. As well, there is a Safeway right there, in case you want to grab some food/snacks/etc.
|
I've stayed here as well and echo these sentiments. Solid hotel, good location. Safeway across the street as well, which is nice if you want to cheap out on food during your stay.

We love going to Seattle.. It's a blast. I would recommend the Crab Pot as well.. Great Food. Pier 57.
We also enjoyed the Zoo.. Probably the best place we went.
Pike Place was also pretty neat to see.

How do you figure that? I've been to both, and they have the exact same exhibits. Only difference is Calgary doesn't have Penguins or a Jaguar.

I think that's a little bit of an exaggeration. IMO, the Seattle Zoo had a better layout, better looking exhibits, and more variety. Maybe I should have said I enjoyed the Seattle Zoo a lot more...

I think people just don't think people give the Calgary Zoo the credit it deserves because we live here. It's one of the top ranked zoo's in North America. Knock out a couple of the big guys (San Diego, Disney, Toronto, Ohio, etc.), and it's second to none.

Ditch the wife, beeline it for Little Darlings. Don't spend hundreds of dollars a night over the course of a week like I did.
Have fun! Seattle is beautiful.

Can't believe I missed this one. Moved here over three years ago, but here are my recommendations:
Seafood: everybody mentions the Crab Pot, and with good reason - but if you want some AWESOME fish & chips at a reasonable price, hit up Steamer's on the waterfront (near the oddities market that someone else referenced). Still the best fish & chips I've had.
Breakfast: for a huge (but awesome) omelet, hit Beth's Cafe. Everyone in town can direct you to it (not that far from Woodland Park Zoo, actually). You can get a 20-egg omelet, but even their regular omelets are quite good and reasonably priced.
If you're not on a budget, hit the brunch buffet at Salty's (Alki Beach location has the best view). AMAZING. Check the website for the menu.
Sights: Ride the Duck is an awesome tour. Ride in an amphibious vehicle around downtown and see the sights there, and then it drives right into the lake and you put around there for a while. Good fun, and if you end up with a fun tour guide, they can be hilarious.
If you have a little time in town, head east on I-90 and you'll run into Snoqualmie Falls. Very pretty, very little walk to get to from the road. Snoqualmie is a very nice little town, and their new casino (Snoqualmie Casino) is one of the nicer in the state.
Or, you can head north to Deception Pass for some spectacular views. Just run a google image search on it.
Honestly, there are like a million other things I could recommend, but it's such a neat place to live.
Have fun!

Awesome thanks slcrocket! Is it true that most downtown hotels charge $30- $40 a day to park? Even if youre staying there?
