I'd almost never recommend making an online store anyway, getting the software is much easier.

I just meant in many cases it's far easier to go with an established product than it is to hire someone to write one from scratch.. an established product in theory should be more robust, secure, etc because it's been in use by many people.

That said, an established product is also less flexible, so there might be some cases were integrating a new product into an existing situation might cost more than actually just writing your own cart... but that'd be pretty unique.

I haven't had direct experience with those kinds of services, but it seems to me that I'd rather use one of those than try to program one myself (or hire one to do it).

Here are a list of some open source options for ecommerce tools.

As for "whining" about CP... I know how hard these guys work to keep this show running. I also realize how they can be handcuffed to the features of forum software. The mouse-over effect is just an annoyance, but it's not a big deal.

The NHL season needs to start really soon. Posters seem to have REALLY short fuses this off season.

I had no idea there even was a mouse-over feature until this thread. I use this newfangled device called the "scroll wheel" to move up and down the page, then I click on any links I want to read without any fancy-schmancy hovering.

Steve... is that you?

Edit: Oh man. I really need to click to at least the second page in a thread before I post.

Count me as one who likes it. Having usually only a limited time to read on here I tend to just pick the threads with titles that look like something I might be interested in, but sometimes the threads are not what I think they are about. This way I get a little preview and can usually find out if the thread is one I want to read. It doesn't always work, but so far it hasn't been bad.

I like it too. I browse from my BB a lot. Even with HSPA or Wi-Fi I like not having to load a thread only to find out that the title was misleading!

(But I do appreciate the tickets pylon )
