So is Cardel Place, the place to be in the Far NE? Is there lots of elypticals and weight machines? Im looking mainly for cardio and fat burn as opposed to Muscle building.

Love NW Fitness. Great atmosphere, not too big, first-name basis, awesome juice bar, good trainers.

Cardel place is awful, way to busy, to hot, too many young kids that travel in groups and use it as a hang out, they allow kids 9 and up to use the facility and the school is right next door so they are there all the time. Good life Beacon hill is a way better facilty and better cardio equipment.

They have 3 of those squat machines plus a few manual ones where you place the bar on them. I don't think they're lousy, just like any other gym I've seen in Calgary. And what's wrong with hex plates? It's not like they don't have all the different weights you could possibly need? It's not a state of the art gym but it's good, not too crowded and not expensive. PLUS HOTTIES!

If you live near woodlands/woodbine than Gagne Gym is the place to go. Went there for 4-5 years and the people are awesome, almost no bags go there and those that do come and go with the seasons.

usually it isnt busy at all and they have a wide range of equipment.

Its an awesome gym and would still be going there if i lived in the city anymore.

Funny you mention Gagne, because that's the gym that I'm coming from. It's just too far of a commute for me now.

Before Gagne I used Southland Leisure Centre, which has a pretty nice gym too.

Shawnessy Y for me and I like having everything in one place. The pool is worth $20-$30 per month to me out of the $70 I pay for me and the kids. Saying this.....I haven't really used it much in September and so far in October as the biking/running and outdoor season has been extended. I hope it carries on but I am hedged either way! When it comes down to it if I have a choice to do something indoor or outdoor, outdoor wins everytime! Going to FC park as soon as my son gets out of school and love this time of year when you get weather like this! After every summer I go back to the gym and can lift just as much as I could a few months earlier.....I have no idea how this works but it is almost like I get just as much or more body strength from outdoor cardio activities....soon enough I will be back on the machines and in the cancer causing chlorine
