The problem with me is I'm like a child when it comes to buying new sticks. I see one in the store that I want, and I have to have it NOW!

Well I used slapshot as an example. But really, any shot I take with a stick under 100 flex doesn't work. No matter what I'm attempting, the stick noodles up and takes away all the power before the puck releases.
|
I know what you mean. I bought a 77 flex a while back and I had to put my lower hand so low on the stick to get any power on it... however the wrist shot on the thing was crazy.
To be fair though, I don't use and honest 87 flex stick. I buy the 87 flex and cut it down making it more of a 100 flex.

The Hockey Stop in Red Deer used to sell Harrow hockey sticks. I only saw them around for a year or so, and never came across another player who owned one.
The one I had was about 65 flex and a nice heel curve that I always associated with Selanne... Best stick I have used to this day.

I think my favorite part was that it was pure white. And I had red gloves so that thing got sexy pink.

my BIL used to be associated with a team in the WHL and both the sticks he passed along to me were stamped "Professional Use Only" - I am heading into season 4 (~40 games per year of rec + coaching my son) with both sticks and I like them - they seem indestructible. I have been hinting lately that I'd sure like an S19 though........

Yeah I use a Pro Stock X60 ... its from the team and stamped with their logo that was team Sidney Crosby played for before NHL... Oceanic ? or something like that. I love it , its so light and has taken its beatings and is still going strong.

I've used pro-sticks before. It really depends on the player. Some players do ridiculous things to their sticks. I used a pro-stock Perry stick and it was perfect.

I currently have a pro stock X60 that was made for Erhoff. Unbelievable stick. I would say it is half the weight of any other stick I've owned.

Pro-stock 80 flex, with a nice toe curve.

Amazing stick.
My actual go-to stick now though is the Easton Synergy ST at 100 flex with an inch cut off (makes it 110 flex or thereabouts) with a Forsberg curve.

I use the PMP9950, otherwise known as the PMP cane. For poking the puck/ball away from people and generally annoying danglers, accept no substitute.

I've tried many, many sticks over the years. CCMs, Sherwoods, Bauers, Warriors. Finally settled on Iginla curved Easton blades, very close to the Sakic but when I first tried the Iginla the puck just went where I wanted it to.
80 flex or lower is very nice for slapshots, lot of power but I actually play with 100 just because I have more control. Feels nice to finally find what's suited for you, bought 3 of the same shaft/blade combinations.

Although the new one-piece composites are far superior, I've been on the lookout for an original Gretzky silver Easton Aluminum shaft. Would be sweet to have one of those in the rotation for strictly nostagic reasons.
I see them sometimes on ebay, but the ones in good shape are always quite expensive. There is one on there for $199 right now.

I was in Atom when they first came out, and a kid on my team came into the dressing room with one. It didn't make him a better hockey player, but everyone else was very envious!

Haha, you too, eh? I've been on the search for one of those for years. I'd buy that one in a heartbeat if it was right...or if I knew I could get that exact blade replacement. I remember when I was playing minor hockey, that silver gretzky easton was the pinnacle of hockey sticks.
What a beauty!

Pinnacle of hockey sticks is a massive understatement. That stick was the holy grail. I swear, when that kid walked in everything went into slow motion, the dressing room got a little darker, and the stick suddenly started glowing.
I eventually got an Easton aluminum (blue one) but it was way after they came out and 1/2 of the kids already had them. Poo.
Regarding that stick on ebay, any non-tapered blade will fit but maybe you're looking for the original Easton blade as well. If so, yeah, that will be hard to find.

Yeah, I eventually got the gold one. It was cool, but it wasn't the silver one.
...and yeah, I want to have the original, correct blade in it, and right handed.

Speaking of retro hockey sticks, anyone remember the Louisville Lock-jaw's? Anyone ever use one? What happened to them? Were they POS's?
They came with this weird tool thingy...
