As I understand it, which isn't perfect by any stretch, it is a bandwidth/CRTC issue. Either they allocate more resources to their HD TV and take away from things like internet speeds or they limit their HD channels

Personally I have never had a show that I wanted in HD that wasn't ,other than some sports, so I really would rather them keep or improve my internet speeds and reliability than add in 40 channels of crap I will never watch.

Ask Telus TV customers how they like having their TV on cuts into their bandwidth. I would bet that those who need the increase speeds, ie not grandma checking her email, really dislike it.

Is Setanta available in HD at all? Its pretty expensive for a standard def channel.

The only channels I would really like in HD are spike and space. I am not even sure if space comes in HD.

hmmm i wonder if they have plans for channels 233-236?

The food network totally needs to be in HD.

I can't watch regular channels anymore.

Where is the history hd channel on bell? They might get it in about 4 years time?

I watched alot of Oasis HD back when i had the crapdish. A lot of the shows get repeated pretty quickly.

Sure, but anyway you slice it, it's still Bell. No thanks. Bell sucks.

Bell has CNN HD?

I can't get a dish where I live, so it isn't really an issue for me, but honestly, looking at their channel lineup, Bell doesn't seem to offer any HD channels that would make me want to drop Shaw: http://www.bell.ca/web/tv/en/all_reg...neup_alpha.pdf

The big difference seems to be all the French channels Bell has. I just wish I could drop all the SD channels because I can't remember the last time I ever watched any of them.

Such well thought out reasoning, how can anyone argue with that?

Shaw is also a big ugly hag of a company, what is your point? Is Shaw really giving that much back to Calgary in comparison to someone like Westjet? They are ultra successful and really are not involved enough in their local community to induce blind faith.

IMHO BellTV is a better product, I have had both. Receivers are better, picture quality is better, those wild HD feeds during the Olympics were amazing, 3D content without the limitation of stomping other existing services - BellTV is a television provider - Shaw is attempting to be too many things on a limited amount of available bandwidth.

Is Shaw running fibre to the house yet? That will be the only way to deliver the digital media demands of the future.

Bell has CNNHD, for about four years as I stated.

Bell has been experimentally broadcasting MSNBC HD. We'll see if they activate it.

Strange that it's not on their channels list I posted.

Bell must be really cutting edge if they've had a channel that launched less than 3 years ago for four years: http://www.tvweek.com/news/2007/09/cnn_hd_debuts.php

Also, looks like it's been less than a year: http://www.satelliteguys.us/canadian...cm-tcm-hd.html

Not that I'm aware of - but all of those EPL games are broadcast in the UK in HD so the feed is there. It's $15/mth now - I'd pay double for HD games..

Well as much as I love jumping on Shaw TV because it's so easy I won't do so with incorrect information. CNNHD wasn't add onto Bell until December 2009 and this is the way it always goes with many different channels. Bell/Shaw/Rogers will buy the rights for them for the first 6 months, 1 year or longer depending on the deal setup with the channel where they have exclusive rights to it.

As much as OilKiller says he hates Bell he secretly loves them, I can't even count the amount of times he wanted to switch. Usually due to Bell carrying certain hockey teams when another provider can't afford the bandwith to do so.
