I think Brasil 2014 has some spread out sites too. As Brasil has had in the past when hosting.
It would seem to be a pipe dream, but sure would be nice if the U.S. would be willing to co-host.

ya I think it is decades away at the least, don't see the US ever wanting/needing to co-host and they are probly getting it in 2022
than you think the next time the rotation comes to a CONCACAF country it will be in Mexico, so it gives Canada until sometime around 2058ish to get the infrastructure which would allow it to host

I'll stick the 2 stadium you listed from my home city. I think you are down playing the renovations that are currently going on a BC Place. It's not just a roof job. There's a lot going on in terms on suites, concourse and seating renovations. It will be a whole new stadium and a whole new look.
Where exactly is Whitecap Stadium?? Do you mean Swanguard?? That place is a dump and of land where they will never further develop to accomadate a renovation or expansion of that size. A crap load of trees would need to be cut down. Not to mention, it's in Burnaby, located at one of the busiest of intersections in the city on a normal day. It's a terrible stadium right now and will never even be considered if Canada was trying to get a World Cup Bid. Vancouver's only stadium would be BC Place or maybe where the Current Empire Field is. They would have to build a whole new stadium there which won't happen.
Regardless, this entire thread and discussion all has to do with plans that are 10-15 years down the road. A lot can change between now and then.

I'm not sure Mexico could host a 32 team World Cup. and who knows the tournament might be expanded even more in the future.
Let's all cheer for a 64 team World Cup so that the US would need our help

^^^^^^I read the Euro is going to 24 teams for 2016. Does anyone know how they would do the knockout phase??
I'm assuming they would have 6 groups of 4, so winners and runners up would be 12, but that would be uneven for 2 sides of a bracket. So I'm thinking 4 teams would get some kind of a bye or they allow the 4 best 3rd place teams to go thru making a Round of 16.
Any other ideas of they might do the groupings and knockout rounds?? Sorry to derail, but I found the expansion kinda interesting.

Any FIFA tournament that is or was 24 teams allowed 4 3rd placed teams. Old World Cups from 82-94 and current U-17 and U-20 tournaments.
I would expect Euro to follow this format.
Here's a schedule from U-20 2009
http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tour...chschedule.pdf
I always found this schedule a bit unfair since if you're in Groups E or F you not only play later and have less rest but you can't play one of the wildcard teams even if you finish first.

Yeah, sorry, I'm not the most familiar with what they are doing at BC place, and certainly not with Whitecaps stadium. I just googled whitecaps stadium, so, that about all I know about it, and I think I got the proposal for a new stadium downtown (which isn't happening - at least yet if at all?)
Even with BC place's renos now, by the time the World Cup came to Canada, would probably need renos again anyway. Perhaps it will have made way for a new stadium by that time.
