You read em.
Out of your 400 posts a day I usually post or quote on one or two. Why? Because they are usually because you post without any thought or as little thought as possible. I quote them also because I know you read them.
Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know!

If you want a real jersey it has to be through retail or the main online sellers in North America. Places I would refer you to are Icejerseys, Rivercitysports, Coolhockey, Triplethreathockey, and sportsk. Your run of the mill mall shops like jerseycity are fine as well. Over the next 3 weeks you might find some good sales with some of the online dealers.
I don't know of any places that assist in telling you what is fake and what is not. That is nice that your friend will consider going to the store with you.

in some cases would the price not be reflective of the fact that it is a fake/replica.
My wife bought me a TC jersey (with no names/numbers) from jersey city for about $120 shortly after they came out - a friend of mine bought a Crosby (numbered & name) for $80.
i will admit that his jersey looked ok.

I don't know about the Olympic ones, but the dead give-away from a distance for the fake Flames jerseys is the colour. The regular home jerseys are much darker red than the actual jerseys. The retros that were made this year were almost orange, the collars were a solid white, and the stripes were sewn into the jersey rather than dyed. Some of the regular jerseys don't look too bad, but the retros all looked horrible.
Up close, the stitching doesn't look as good as the official jerseys and the fabrics are much lower quality.
Here's a photo of Crosby (very big): http://z.about.com/d/proicehockey/1/...7439467_10.jpg
Here's a knock-off you can buy for less than $50 from China: http://www.ajerseys.com/images/2010/02/25/35918700.jpg
The most obvious thing is that the font on the name is much thicker on the knock-off. The stitching looks pretty bad, and it doesn't have the "A" on the front.
|
Comparing to the on ice thing isn't good. I'm guessing his friend bought him a replica (~100-125) and not an authentic ($300+). There are huge differences between the two in colour, stitching/fabric quality, and the ratio of stripes/patches/lettering/etc..
From what I've heard many of the fake olympic jerseys were quite well done. Your best bet is to compare it with the real thing. But make sure you compare a replica to a replica and an authentic to an authentic.

The knock-offs all try to pass themselves off as "authentic", which is why they sew a pointless fight-strap into them. They claim to be discounted from the factory in China, even though the actual authentic jerseys are made in Canada (RBK ones at least, I don't know about the Nike Olympic ones), and I believe the official replicas are made in Indonesia (again, RBK, not sure about Nike).
The difference in quality between a legitimate replica jersey and a legitimate authentic jersey is relatively minor on first glance. The fabric on the authentic is slightly nicer and the big thing is that the logos and patches are all sewn on to the authentics, where they're glued onto the replicas. There shouldn't be any significant difference in colours and striping between an authentic and a legitimate replica. A legitimate replica should have the correct letters/numbers because they use the same stock as the authentics (unless you order the horrible ones from NHL.com).
From about 20 feet away, I probably couldn't tell you whether a person was wearing an authentic jersey or a replica; but I could tell if it was a Chinese knock-off.
Again, this is all based on the Flames jerseys. I haven't seen enough of the Olympic ones to know what the tell-tale differences are. Although, really, the most obvious tell-tale sign that you're buying a knock-off is if you're buying it from someone other than a recognized store and you're paying significantly less than what you could buy it for in Jersey City or the FanAttic (meaning much less than half the price of a regular retail store for no logical reason - like end-of-season clearance, or selling off stock of traded players).
Here's a site the Habs put up to help people spot fakes of their jersey: http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=62049

thats great you would. but unfortunately i have a friend who cares and feels bad for saying hes gonna get me a real thing but bought me a fake. and same goes for him, i'd feel like crap if i told him i'd get him something real for his bday and promised it was real and bought it only to find out its crap. so you can take your crap outta here.
everything i read that comes out of your username is garbage. never adding anything to no convos just stupid one liners.
and thank you everyone else for helping me out and giving me a few things to look at, and as it seems most of you seem to understand how friendship/friends work. guessing puckluck doesn't seem to have much knowledge of that.

Cool story bro. If you were a real friend you would just accept the gift as is.
If you don't like my posts put me on ignore. I think more people agree with me that you're being a little brat complaining about a birthday present. If he sold you the fake jersey then you should feel dissapointed, but he took the time and money to buy you a jersey even if it's fake it was still was a nice thought of him or her, and you're mad that it's fake?
I think you're the one that doesn't know how friendships/friends work.

No I believe you are doing a wonderful job at looking like the tool. The poster didn't make any reference of anger or dislike towards his friend for buying a fake jersey, if anything he is pissed that his friend got ripped off. There isn't anything wrong with feeling that way if thats the case.

10 ways to spot a "Fake" jersey, as put out by the Habs. Tip #7, in my opinion is the best way to tell if the jersey is counterfeit.
http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=62049
On a related note, I know for a fact that there are some fake Flames jerseys out there that are the correct shade of red.

I really don't believe you do think. In complete fairness as many above me have said, this thread was about asking for help, you have provided none. You're not adding to the conversation and you're insulting the OP for no reason.
It's people like you why I have trouble posting in this tread any longer, it's a circus here at times.

The fakes I got from China were almost always 100% dead on. you would never know the difference.
...just 1/10 the price.
