Yep, just got back to work after dropping him off at home. He was turned in without his collar, 40 bucks for the impund fee and a warning ticket for dog at large.

I found it because I signed up on petlynx.net recommend that site for sure.

Glad to hear the happy ending! He's looking a little sheepish, haha.

A couple days ago I rounded up a little bichon frise while I was walking my dog. This dog had no collar/tags but fortunately the owner was just around the corner. I don't know why anyone ever lets their dog walk around without a collar, even indoors. It really is stupid.
If you have more than one dog, I would recommend removing the collars if they are at all unsupervised. They can get caught up while playing and choke to death.

Some people that used to walk thier dogs in the same park as us lost a husky when his collar got caught in the jaw of thier other husky mix. The dogs were playing in the back yard and they were in the house. By the time they realized what was going on, the poor dog had choked to death.

The doggy day care we take our pup to removes all the collars when dogs come in for this very reason.

I've never actually heard of that happening. I know a ton of people though with a single dog that remove the collar all the time because "it's too noisy".

My dog doesn't wear his tag collar all the time because it rubs his neck really badly so he only wears it when he's outside a lot. I take it off as soon he's inside and not going back out again at night. He also never wears it when he's in his kennel because of the possibility of getting it caught and choking.

I've heard various schools of thought on how tight a collar should be, too. Some people have them loose so if the dog ever got it caught on anything, the collar would slip off and prevent choking. Others want the collar tight enough that it can't be removed from the dogs' neck so tags and ID are always on. Personally, I'd rather my dog loose without visible ID (he's microchipped) than take the chance he'd get strung up on his collar when out of the yard. But it's all personal preference...

funny that you mention this.

My cousin has two dogs and they both have choker chain type collars. one day, my cousin kept his 2 dogs in his room while he was taking a shower... as he was showering, he heard his dogs screaming, but thought they were just play fighting.. but it went on for a couple minutes and it was a different type of screaming. so he runs into his room in just a towel, the way he described what he saw had me in tears from laughing.

apparently one of the dogs had the collar stuck on his teeth, and the other dog was choking and frantically trying to get lose. the jerking caused the other dog to bleed from his mouth. both dogs were so terrified that they had all over the bed.

my cousin starts screaming and my aunt and uncle both hear this so they come running into his room to see what was going on... my cousin starts to puke and drops his towel just as his mom opens the door.
