Not really. He had a lot of injuries because he was a pretty reckless outfielder. Broken wrists from jumping into the outfield wall to make catches, etc. The guy would do pretty much anything to make a play.
I agree with girly. If he had done them, it would've come out by now. As far as I know, he's never even been implicated
the other thing that hurt him was playing at the kingdom man was that surface a pile of crap.
Did I just really read that he was "probably" a juice monkey because he did get hurt...often??? Really?
Wow.....no more to be said.
If he was...no one wasnt.
Agreed. The guy has always been all class. He had the opportunity to make a gazillion dollars either by staying with the Mariners, or when he left them, yet chose to play in Cincy because he had a connection there. It's too bad he never got a ring.

If you did it wasn't in this thread. Maybe some more does need to be said, like why is the word probably in quotation marks? Anyways, I don't think he took steroids, but the point was there is no way of knowing for sure, and unfortunately that goes for every athlete these days.
This makes me feel old. 20 years ago I had his Nike ad (the magazine ad with him and his dad) up on my wall at university.

Not fair I know, but who can we trust? MLB has a long list of cheaters they have not ever released. I'm sure there are some bombshell names on that list, people we assumed were "clean".
My only point here is we can't assume any athlete is clean, nor can we naively believe their denials. This is the sad state of sports. No performance is above suspicion.
Rumors are he wanted to take more mid afternoon naps - thats why he retired.
Too bad he chose to go out just a little too late in his career. I still consider him one of the best players I ever watched.

No way!! I never knew he retired till l opened this thread. I hate baseball but he was one of the few exciting players l enjoyed watching. Great videogames too.
