Is this him? If so I don't think there's much a doctor can do.

Kidding - get better soon!

You just completely changed my view of privatizing health care in Alberta.

Does it really matter what race the doctor was? You didn't seem very happy when the new health care bill was passed. Hopefully things change down south for you guys, I would be upset if I was in your situation as well.

I find it funny that this has completely changed my mindset on social health care too.

Ya I thought if it works for Dentist's then why not medicine, but healthcare is a must I guess while dental is not.

If your teeth fall out you just have to eat soup and mashed potatoes for the rest of your life.

Not unless you have a good wife that chews your food up for you.

The fiance's uncle is a dentist and owns his own practice. Sweet!!!

Don't blame the doctors blame the system. You don't work for free so why would you expect them to.

I am so against suing a hospital but I am really really looking at my options about this.

My stomach well more the part right under my rib cage is killing me. It feels like I have a 300 lb man just standing on it. I feel loopy from the drugs and I'm just not happy.

What should I do?

Oh, The nurse botched my IV. Put it in the arm wrong. Going from someone that has had all kinds of broken bones and crap I am scared to death of needles....
OMG.

Maybe you should tell them your aversion to drugs before surgery... Those drugs will make you loopy for sure. Also beware that you won't be able to eat (depending on the time of your surgery) after midnight the day before. So if they expect to wheel you in, no food.

Seriously though, you lost two days of work and had no food. Aw, muffin. Your thread sounds like you're just bitching and looking for a reason to sue.

They put the IV in wrong? Again, aw muffin. Are you a redhead? Let me tell you what it's like to be a redhead... When I went in for my kidney stone, it took them 4 attempts to get an IV, and every time they pulled the needle out halfway, wiggled it around, and pushed it back in. You know what that feels like? My veins are hard to see and collapse easily. I also have an aversion to needles. happens.

I'm sorry to say but, suck it up princess. The doctors are concerned about helping people, but helping those without insurance can cripple them financially. If you don't have insurance, could you afford to pay for a $10,000 surgery? Do you think that's worse than losing two days of work and $200?

For real buddy, this is the problem with the US; damned if they do, (cripple the person financially,) damned if they don't, (sue happy patients who don't like how they were treated).

Exactly why those of us in health care fields have shuddered at the thought. Why anyone would think that privatizing health care is a good thing is beyond me. Why has the US trying to get universal health care for so many years? Has anything else the government privatized led to savings for the average joe? Not particularly that I've seen. Just increased the profits for big businesses. Does nothing for us commoners.

I don't think any politician in Alberta has ever suggested a fully privatized system.

Likely because the insurance payments are higher than a mortgage payment would be. I have friends in Tennessee whose health insurance premiums are about $800/month EACH, and they don't have any health issues. She said it would be at least double that if they were sick. Ah the world of free enterprise......

That would be utopia for them, and they would still get their big salaries from being on the boards of directors for these private institutions even if there wasn't complete privatization. The downside to it is that there would be some "public" hospitals that would be ghetto-like, overcrowded, understaffed to the point that nobody would get the care they needed. The insurance premiums to support a private health care system would be so high that people working at standard jobs might not be able to afford them. And forget about employer-paid insurance premiums...they aren't in business to lose money like that. You'll be on your own. And cross your fingers that there aren't too many people who can't afford private hospitals needing something from the public one the same time you do, or if you think the waits are bad now....but the upside is that some of the people ahead of you might die waiting, so you'll move up the list.
