Doesn't surprise me. I'm occasionally at Enbridge's offices (in 5AP), and they're usually on lockdown due to protesters.

I can see the Chinese Cultural Centre on 1st and 3rd where I am and there is a bunch of EMS units congregating there.

Probably getting ready, just in case.

Yeah, just once I'd like to see a chunk of downtown get blown up, or at least a few fatalities. Stupid crappy terrorists.

Looking out the window of my office in BP. Lots of firetrucks / police around blocking off 1st street.
I'm hearing reports that there are quite a few protesters in the area as well.

Crisis averted; Tim's in Bow Valley was still open, lunch was obtained.

There were a bunch of people gawking in the +15 between BVS and Suncor Centre.

This is why they're closing some +15s. The one between the 5th Ave Place and Stock Exchange is closed.

Why is that building still called the Stock Exchange tower, there hasnt been an actual stock trading floor there for well over 10 years now?

Looks like the potential bomb has been investigated and neutralized. Units seem to be moving out.

  • First Street S.W., between 2 Avenue S.W. and 4 Avenue S.W.
  • Fourth Avenue traffic is currently being diverted southbound on to 1 Street S.W.

The bomb scare in downtown Calgary is now over.

Police were called to the area of 4th Avenue and 1st Street S.W. to deal with a suspicious package, but it turned out to be nothing threatening.
