I think they should take things a step further and make it so you might not get drafted at all.
Then maybe your BAP could become an alcohlic, knock up his puck bunny girlfriend and spend the rest of his life working at the local Esso Station and wondering what life might have been...

I would love to have the ability to sign free agent contracts in Europe as well. "Yeah your agent called, you suck, no NHL team wants you but Agggerospof of the Swedish Division 6 is interested as well as some team from the Quebec Senior League, they're offering $400.00 per week"

Cool added feature, but much like esoteric, not a feature I particularly care about. I tend to just boot up gm mode and everything else becomes noise to me.
All I want is an online dynasty a la Madden.

If they really mine the addition for all it's worth, as opposed to just adding a bunch of new uniforms, this could add massively to your GM mode. Instead of a draft just made up of random letter grades you'd be able to look at the actual history of a player when making your choices. Do you go with the undersized guy who put up huge numbers in the Q or the bruising D-man who had some injury issues as a 17 year old in the W. I'm not sure it'll get that in depth, but the potential is there to really expand the GM experience.

i think working it into the gm mode would be great. you could then also allow players to remain in juniors instead of drafting people right to the nhl/ahl all the time.
since they already have lots of the european leagues, they could in theory expand the draft to include guys from those leagues as well. then players could develop over there for a year or two as well.

i agree/disagree with that i think. if instituted properly having the junior leagues could be a huge addition to both GM mode and BAP mode. so it definitely helps expand the game in a big way. however, just having the teams i think isn't such a big deal as most canadians buy the game already. whereas in the states, i think it could really be used as a marketing tool. there are a lot of american kids who's biggest source of hockey knowledge was nhl94 for sega and snes. that game was huge down here and exposed people to hockey. i think with effort, it could be done again. no i dont think adding the echl is a lynchpin to that, but i think it could be a significant factor. especially if they add the central hockey league which has lots of teams down south in nontraditional markets.

This is indeed HUGE if true. There a tons of huge fans of Junior hockey throughout Canada... some much moreso than pro hockey.
I don't know how far this might eventually be taken, but the idea of "accurately" depicting the traditional home-and-homes between fiercely competitive towns, such as the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Medicine Hat Tigers - arenas and all (may be a pipedream) - is SO COOL to me. So cool. Though Calgarians have the Hitmen, it's the folks who've grown up in Moose Jaw, Prince George or Brandon and closely followed their home teams who will appreciate this. Junior hockey is awesome stuff.
Add to that the incredible potential for BAP mode, GM mode, etc, and I am officially excited. This is definitely a step in the right direction.

I would still love to see them add the olympics to BAP once every 4 seasons and world championships for teams that don't make the playoffs.
If they're doing a CHA thing maybe they could add a World Juniors.
I just want a little more realism to the BAP. I'd love to have a training camp with ex games like Madden. I'd love to have the agent feature and be allowed to demand a trade or refuse to report.
I think they really need to have the RFA/UFA contracts.

It would be great as well, so that way drafting can be a little bit more realistic. +1 for the RFA/UFA!

Will it be as awesome as there AHL teams filled up with random European free agents?
If you're not gonna put the time in to get the actual players, I don't know why they bother at all.

That would be awesome, but...knowing EA's mediocre NHL player ratings, I'd hate to see how bad their CHL ratings would be

They should really adjust the ratings.. make NHL caliber players 75+, utilizing the 90+ range a lot more. Every team should have at least a couple above 90.. that leaves room for the AHL to be around 70-75, then the juniors can be 60-70.
It'd be difficult to adjust, but jack up all of the junior hockey players' speeds and we'd be good to go.

Or,
Your GM Sutter doesn't think your ready for the NHL after 3 years in the minors so we are leaving his deadbeat ass for Russia only to come back a year later to make him feel like an ass.

Wow, you know I think its so kewl that bitching about Sutter has to hit every fricken thread on this board.
Its so awesome that we could have a thread about gardening and someone will try to cleverly complain about Darryl Sutter there.
Its so awesome I think I'm just going to orgasm right here.

I could NOT see that turning out well. The AI isn't capable of trading properly yet, let alone being able to decide of [X] is worth giving up a 1st round pick for.
