What you seem to be failing horribly at is understanding that just because lots of people like something doesn't make it good.
It is called an opinion. Different people have different opinions.
My opinion is that about 80% of Rome's show it total crap and unlistenable.

I'm not failing at anything. The only thing horrible about this situation is your lacking perspective. Regardless of you think, the show is not 'unlistenable'. Thanks for the quick lecture on this whole 'opinion' concept, I'll be sure to take it under advisement. Try shifting your definition of 'good' away from what matters to you, and more towards what defines success.

I find it unlistenable....period...thats my opinion...are you saying i dont find it hard to listen too?
As I said, i would like it a whole lot more, and did way back when, if he stuck to real sports stuff and stayed away from 'takes" by a bunch of people that get off on hearing how goofy they can be on the radio.
As flip points out, just because something is popular does not make it good. It makes it successful, not good. His show is not good IMO, therefor i cannot listen. Hope that's OK?
And just to point out...I watch his TV show often because its quite watchable and good. None of the nonsense.

Vinnie Mac...Not as bad as I suspected him to be but obviously not close to the winning call.

Did I miss something in the title? I didnt realize that this thread was a disscussion about peoples opinions regarding the Jim Rime Show. I thought this was a discussion about the Smack-off.
I always like Trapper and Greg in Vegas was awesome. Iafrate was really good.
Should be an interesting final hour.
I gotta admit that I dont like the hypocritical way of Jungle Favourites getting away with smack that would get a first time caller run (personal appearances). I guess this is just part of the Jungle Shtick.

I liked Iafrate.
But to be honest there has been some pretty solid calls today.

When is Jeff in Richmond going to get in? My favorite caller.

Doc with a huge call! That could be the winner.

I thought Doc, Jay and Brad were the top 3. Surprised Jay and Brad didn't even make the top 5. That was 3 hours well spent.

Shocking results!
I had Doc winning, and Jay top three.

I'm actually the opposite when it comes to Rome. I turn it off when he's doing interviews, and turn it back on when he's doing all the other stuff. It's probably because I'm not interested in any sport except hockey, so all the NFL, NBA, MLB, and college stuff is boring to listen to. I just like his takes on they daily news. I think he's hilarious.

On topic: horrible result. Doc had a far better call and delivery.
Boooooooo!

You knew Vic was going to win it one of these years! But Mike in Indy's line about him and Lisa locking eyes while she poured the Saphire and she proceeds to tell him to take his socks off was epic. Lots of inside jokes for those who follow the jungle on a daily basis.
I understand what people are saying in this thread and Rome has said it himself in the past either you like him or you don't. Some do and some don't what's the big deal. I wasn't a big fan of his at first but slowly through the past 9 years I like his show. His olympic coverage and giving props to Canada in February and even after salt lake have been great.

Man, I love listening to the Jim Rome Show but I can't stand the Smack Off. I actually had a rare opportunity to listen to the show today and had to turn it off. So sad.

I don't like it either. I do love the phone calls when they come into the show, but the Smack Off is just too much. I am not such a huge fan of the clone on clone violence.
