I think you know by now in this thread, and I have never used them, but just to add I think they are or were partnered with MLB (Major League Baseball) so they should be fine...
Edit: yup, looks like they still are - goto mlb.com, click on tickets and you can see a direct link to stubhub.com. So, all jokes aside, a major sports league is using/partnered with them.

That's odd, there's a stubhub location directly across from Yankee stadium that you can pick up tickets at. No reason you should have had an issue there.

If you don't get the tickets, the seller doesn't get their money and you get yours back. There is no risk.

Stubhub will also work pretty hard to make sure you get into the game. I was left hanging the first time I used stubhub and they made sure I got tickets and gave me a $30 credit on top of waiving a bunch of fees.

I've bought and sold on Stubhub, never had a problem... as has already been said, tickets are pricier, but it is very convenient and reliable.
Even had Red Sox/Yankee tickets delivered to my hotel the day before the game once.

How does it work for buying upcoming playoff games which may not happen? Do they bill your card then refund it if the game doesn't get played?
EDIT: never mind, RTFM. They refund it in full, including service charges.

Well I'm thinking about going to the Talladega NASCAR race. The tickets are only a couple of dollars more than ticketmaster or the Talladega website. But once you decide on tickets on either TM or Talladega site and the fees that come with it they are exactly the same price.

And you miss the game you wanted to go to. If you're in a city you don't live in, that could be the only time you could go. Your risk is that you may not be able to go to the gamm, not losing money.

How does Stubhub protect the seller? I have no tickets to anything, but I'm curious what would happen if the buyer claimed the tickets were bad, but they had actually used them - eg. if the buyer claimed that someone else had printed out the same electronic ticket and entered before them, when they in fact used it.

I saw Flames tickets for ~$8 each once. After shipping, each ticket game out to be almost $35-40. Shipping is so expensive!

They'll find tickets for you if the seller doesn't send them, and they guarantee that they'll be at least as good as the original tickets. I bought upper level tickets for $50 a few years ago to a Bruins/Habs playoff game, and when the seller didn't send them, Stubhub gave me 2nd row tickets for no extra cost. The high shipping cost is the only real downside.

We used them for our road trip last year - Sharks and Kings games. We had front row seats in the second tier for each game. Even more expensive than they should have been but they were premium seats and so worth it.

I used them twice to buy tickets to Joe Louis Arena to see the Flames in Detroit.
Good experience.

No game is ever 100% sold out where you can't get into the stadium or arena. If you are willing to buy tickets off of Stub Hub above face value, then you would be willing to buy off of a scalper outside the venue. You get your money refunded on your credit card and buy from a guy outside the gates, therefore you still get to watch the game. I'm not seeing what's complicated about it.

It depends on where they are shipped from. When I have sold tickets on Stub Hub the 2 day Fed Ex shipping cost to the buyer was $11 to ship from Vancouver to Calgary. With many of the tickets being located in the USA, Fed Ex rates are pretty high to get to Canada. I bought some SF Giants tickets once and shipping was $25 to Calgary. The 10% buyer premium is what usually drives the price up if it isn't rush shipping.

Next time you come to LA (or anyone else) let me know and I can get you tickets for less than face via my rep. Quite a few people from here have benefitted from lower bowl seats for about 45 bucks. I don't know about next season, but through this season I was able to call my rep, let him know I had friends coming to town who wanted tickets and then they would call him with their credit card number and get tickets at season ticket cost, which was sometimes half the price of face value. It costs me nothing to use this perk as a season ticket holder. As long as tickets are available we can get them at a discount. Don't pay stubhub to see any games at Staples Center!

Does anyone know of a way to covert paper tickets into electronic tickets? I have 2 tickets to tomorrow night's Pens/Senators game, but I can't make it to the game, I'm 8 hours from Ottawa, and I wouldn't be able to send them in time. I bought them off of stubhub, but would the box office reissue them, or would scanning them and e-mailing a pdf work?
Any other suggestions would be great.

That's a tough one. Usually the box office will reprint tickets but only for the person who owns them. If you bought your tickets from a broker you likely won't be the person that the Sens/ticketmaster think originally owns them.

Unless you live in a pretty remote area you should be able to overnight them if you get them to UPS/FedEx immediately.
