How about Exit Music (For A Film)? Rumor has it that this song was rejected for Romeo and Juliet for being too sad. Too sad for Romeo and Juliet. If that isn't a downer I don't know what is.

Street Spirit (Fade Out) is far and away the most sad Radiohead song.

It ran during the closing credits though, didn't it?
I would say the most downer Radiohead song is "How to Disappear Completely"

Correct they did play it in the credits. And that's what Thom wrote it for. I was wrong on this one.
Exit Music (For a Film)" is a song by Radiohead, written specifically for the ending credits of the 1996 film William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet.
First line of the wiki article on this song. Medium embarrassing.
To prove I don't just listen to Radiohead...

one of the most underrated albums ever created, unfortunately she decided to go with broader less intimate songs after this but found success in the states, I miss the old Sarah.

ALL pink floyd music is a huge downer to me. Anytime I hear any of it I feel instantly burnt out. I wonder if people ever get out of their chairs at their shows, or are they already groggy before the 'upbeat' music begins?
