Sorry to bump an old thread, but I am looking to get a Tattoo on the back of my arm and curious howe the OPs experience went and maybe others suggestions. I have heard about Bushido and Smiling Buddha...also a bit curious about Strange World in Varsity.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm looking at getting Ukrainian writing (not the most elaborate tattoo but just want a place that does good work)
Also not my first tattoo, but I haven't got a new one in almost 8 years.

Nice...Who was your artist? I talked to Brett and am trying to setup a time..
As for Ball Hockey, I'm driving back early morning and probably heading straight out to the arena...can't wait...back for the rest of summer

I went to the arthouse. they did a great job and im really happy with it. The pain was pretty minor. I consider myself someone with a pretty high pain threshold and i only winced a couple of times when he went over my shoulder blade. But other than just kinda feels like someone scratching a sunburn.

It took me about a year and a half to get my second tattoo. Be sure its something you want on your body permanently. Once you have figured that out, you are good to go.
There is a guy named Jimmy at Impact Body Art. They are at 12 ave SW. He may seem awkward because he only has one good eye, bu let me tell you! He is the best Japanese tattoo artist in the city.

Kurt Hurt at Big Bamboo Studios has been my one and only artist. I have some crazy ink, for example the west coast graffiti piece I have on my back that says "cripple" (I have been in a wheelchair for about 10 years.)
Kurt is out in the community a ton, doing charity work (raising money through is tattoo work) and sponsoring local events, the Driven car show and School of Hard Knocks MMA events
Kurt has recently moved, from 13th and Macleod (formerly Southside's location) to 40th and Macleod (formerly Threshold's location). He currently has 4 artists at his new location, they can pretty much cover all genre's of tattoos. I really like Jake Desade's work. They have a new female artist who is awesome, I can't recall her name. As well, Kurt's apprentice, Ryan, is starting to take clients. (he is working on a large bio-mech/HR Giger-like piece for me)
I will see if he can swing a CalgaryPuck discount.
EDIT: Mention CalgaryPuck and he said that he will provide a discount. Of course it all depends on the piece.
KURT's FACEBOOK PROFILE
One of my favorite pics in his portfolio.

IMO, the tattoo looks horrible. However, given all body art is personal I'll bite my lip there and give him a pass.
But more specifically, it's a direct copy from a movie, (Boondock Saints), and thus lacks originality.

I forgot that CPS members can't have anything to do with the community (supporting a local artist), especially something as taboo as a tattoo, for shame CPS member, for shame!

I agree. The font looks off, I guess the cop likes it, and thats really all that matters.
Irish cop who was a fan of the movie, not everyone can be as original as me. For that, I give them a pass.

Oh please, spare us. This has nothing to do with that.
This has to do with a CPS member getting a sh*tty ass tattoo. If you're going to get a tattoo, get something that doesn't suck.

Oh please, tongue and cheek, heard of it? I guess I don't take the tattoos that others choose to have as serious as you. When I get my next tattoo, I will make sure you approve. <<I should have added this to the comment you quoted, it would have conveyed the message better. I guess I could edit it.
Why so grumpy, why does this even matter to you? I am puzzled. Do you always comment on the tattoos that you see on others? Bewildering.

good choice! personally I have been toying with the idea of getting the word "Swan" tattoed on my wang, except when I get excited it will say "Saskatchewan"
Sadly though the lettering above will be the actual size of the tattoo.

Good enough answer for you dad?
